AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional electrical connectors with multiple parts increase assembly complexity and cost, and require precise handling to prevent deformation of the shielding bodies during assembly, which can result in inadequate electrical contact.

Method used

A shielded connector design using a shielding body crimped onto a ring element, with a deformation-limiting section to minimize parts and prevent deformation, comprising a cylindrical shielding body crimped onto a ring member to ground the electrical wire, and a crimping method using embossing blades to form the deformation-limiting section.

Benefits of technology

Reduces the number of parts and minimizes deformation, ensuring stable electrical contact and efficient assembly by limiting shielding body deformation during crimping.

Abstract

A shielded connector, a shielded connector assembly, and a connector manufacturing method, which can achieve both a reduction in the number of parts and a limitation of the deformation of a shielding body, are provided. A shielded connector assembly comprises a shielded connector 1 and a shielded electrical wire 6 in which a strand 14 (as an exemplary shielding element) at least partially covers the circumference of an insulator 12 for receiving a core wire 11 therein, a ring element 7 for fixing the tip of the strand 14 to the insulator 12, and a shielding body 8.The shielding body 8 is formed in a cylindrical shape to accommodate the shielded electrical wire 6 and grounds the strand 14 to a connecting counterpart via the ring member 7 when a terminal 16 at the tip of the core wire 11 is electrically connected to the connecting counterpart. The shielding body 8 includes a crimped section 23, which is attached to the ring member 7 by crimping, and a deformation-limiting section 37, which is formed on the crimped section 23 to limit deformation of the shielding body 8 when the crimped section 23 is formed.
