Method for recording the road situation for a commercial vehicle, associated control unit and computer program product

Abstract

The present invention provides a method for detecting the road situation based on actual values ​​of operating parameters of a commercial vehicle. The method comprises the following steps: determining actual values ​​of each of several operating parameters; processing each actual value to obtain a processed value; retrieving the processed value of a selected parameter for each of several predefined road situations and comparing the processed value with an associated threshold value; performing a logical analysis based on the comparison result; and determining, based on the result of the logical analysis, whether the commercial vehicle is in a predefined target road situation. With the inventive method for detecting the road situation of a commercial vehicle, the current situation of the road on which the vehicle is traveling can be detected more accurately without unnecessary cost increases.Based on the results of this data acquisition, better control of the vehicle's operation can be achieved, thereby improving the vehicle's driving characteristics. The present invention further relates to a control unit associated with the method and a computer program product.
