Abstract

The disclosure relates to a method for detecting an inappropriate posture of an occupant seated in a vehicle, the method comprising: - measuring (52) capacitance values ​​via capacitive sensors arranged in the seat surface and backrest areas, - determining (56) a morphological type of a seat occupant from the measured capacitance values, - selecting (58) a type value according to the determined morphological type, - calculating (60) a sum of the capacitance values ​​measured by the capacitive sensors located in the side, middle, and rear areas, - calculating (62, 63) the ratio between the sum and the type value, - comparing (64) the ratio and a first threshold value (S1), and if the ratio is greater than the first threshold value, generating (66) a first detection signal representative of an inappropriate posture of the seat occupant.
