Abstract
Systems, procedures, and circuit arrangements for enabling on-site re-marking of microcontrollers are provided. In an example, a microcontroller unit (MCU) comprises: one or more processors (120); a non-reprogrammable memory (140, 240); a reprogrammable memory (130, 230); and a marking circuit arrangement (200). The non-reprogrammable memory (140, 240) is configured to store a framework license file (246) that defines a first set of MCU functions or resources that are enabled for execution or access by the one or more processors (120), and a second set of MCU functions or resources that are permanently disabled for execution or access by the one or more processors (120).The reprogrammable memory (130, 230) is configured to store an actual license file (236) that defines a third set of MCU functions or MCU resources licensed for execution or access by the one or more processors (120). The marker circuit arrangement (200) is configured to control access to the MCU functions and MCU resources based on the framework license file (246) and the actual license file (236).
