Abstract

An adapter is provided. An adapter comprises a device-side connection section that is attachable and detachable to a control device that controls an endoscope, a first endoscope-side connection section to which a cable section extending from an operating unit of the endoscope and containing a signal line is attachable and detachable, a conversion unit that converts an electrical signal input from the cable section via the first endoscope-side connection section into an optical signal, and an optical transmission unit provided on the device-side connection section that transmits the optical signal to the control device.
