Abstract

This shape display device comprises an intensity distribution estimator that estimates the intensity distribution of the laser beam based on a machining condition that includes at least one arbitrary laser peak power and laser beam diameter; an ablation shape estimator that estimates an ablation shape of a workpiece to be ablated by the laser beam, wherein this estimate is made based on the intensity distribution estimated by the intensity distribution estimator and an absorption characteristic of the laser beam; a machining shape estimator that estimates a machining shape of the workpiece based on a machining program and the ablation shape estimated by the ablation shape estimator; and a display unit that displays the machining shape estimated by the machining shape estimator.
