Camera automatic white balance: Under-the-sea true color algorithm

Abstract

A method comprises receiving an image from a camera. Based on the assumption that the camera is underwater, the method also comprises segmenting the image to determine a plurality of regions and assigning a corresponding classification to each region. The method further comprises determining one or more color enhancement parameters for each region based on its classification. Finally, the method includes adjusting the image based on the one or more color enhancement parameters determined for each region.
