Abstract
Carbon material precursor comprising: an unburned fiber mixture of cellulose fibers and synthetic polymer fibers; a content of 50 wt.% or more of cellulose fibers in the unburned fiber mixture; a content of 5 wt.% or more and less than 50 wt.% of synthetic polymer fibers in the unburned fiber mixture; and the synthetic polymer fibers have a higher thermal decomposition temperature than the cellulose fibers and remain unmelted at or below the thermal decomposition temperature of the cellulose fibers.
