Abstract

This discloses a method for solubilizing a polymer resin, comprising treating the polymer resin or a composite containing the polymer resin with a first fluid mixture over one or more pressure cycles; wherein the first mixture comprises a first superheated fluid and a first supercritical fluid; wherein each pressure cycle comprises a pressurization step, a pressure holding step, and a pressure release step; and treating the polymer resin or the composite containing the polymer resin over one or more pressure cycles with a second fluid mixture; wherein the second fluid mixture comprises superheated water, a second superheated or supercritical fluid, and a third supercritical fluid; wherein the first superheated fluid and the second superheated or supercritical fluid comprise a solvent having a Hildebrand solubility parameter between 15 and 40 MPa.
