Locating an EMS unit that is closest to an emergency signal source and notifying nearby personal devices

Abstract

A method for emergency signal monitoring with EMS and public notification in crowded public spaces. The method involves receiving an emergency signal from a first personal device in a crowded public space; locating the first personal device in close proximity to an EMS unit, indicating that a user of the first personal device is in distress; transmitting the position of the first personal device to the EMS unit; identifying a second personal device near the first personal device; and transmitting a notification signal to the second personal device, indicating that a person is in distress.
