Abstract

A parallel processing determiner (171) in a programmable logic controller (PLC) (100) determines, based on parameter information entered by a user, whether a program component should be executed in parallel with a currently running program. If the program component is executed in parallel processing, and if a first core (110) of a central processing unit (CPU) is used to execute the program and a second CPU core (120) is not used to execute the program, a program component assigner (172) assigns the program component to the second CPU core (120), a start time determiner (173) determines a start time based on the parameter information, and a parallel processing controller (174) starts the execution of the program component using the second CPU (120) at the start time.
