WAX THERMAL ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A WAX THERMAL ELEMENT

Abstract

[Problem]A compact and cost-effective wax thermocouple that can be installed in a confined space, as well as a method for its manufacture, are provided. [Solution]A wax thermocouple 1 comprises: a housing 2 in which a wax W is sealed; a piston rod 3 that is movable in and out of the housing 2; and an annular packing 4 made of a rubber material that is fitted onto the piston rod 3 to seal the wax W. In the wax thermocouple 1, the housing 2 is configured with a bottomed cylindrical cup 20 in which the wax W is sealed, and a disc-shaped cover 21 that is connected to the cup 20 to withstand internal pressure and support the packing 4. The cover 21 has an outer circumferential side surface that is provided with a recessed groove 24.The cup 20 and the cover 21 are connected by a lateral crimp 2a, in which a cylindrical side surface of the cup 20 is pressed and crimped into the recessed groove 24.
