Abstract

Battery cell, including: a housing that has an opening; an electrode assembly housed in the casing, the electrode assembly having a first electrode flange at the end facing the opening; and an end cap for covering the opening, the end cap comprising a cap body and a first projection connected to the cap body, a predetermined breaking point being provided on the cap body, and the end cap being configured to break along the predetermined breaking point in order to release the internal pressure when the internal pressure of the battery cell reaches a threshold; wherein the first projection extends beyond the cap body towards the electrode assembly and serves to support the first electrode tab, so that a space for the predetermined breaking point is created between the first electrode tab and the cap body.
