Abstract

A driver warning system for indicating the safety-relevant change from automated to manual driving mode in vehicles with automatic transmission, characterized in that: - the mode recognition unit already present in the vehicle or retrofitted with a retrofitted system is technically equipped with an extended option for a warning signal generator to recognize each of the available active driving modes, such that: - the signal from the warning signal generator to the control area consists of at least two simultaneously acting warning signals - visual and acoustic (possibly haptic, e.g., steering wheel vibration), according to I. Description, §4, - a context-dependent trigger control of the warning signals, and - a feedback unit for an active reaction by the driver when exiting the automated driving mode is integrated.
