Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a method and a device for the energy-saving and precise cutting of hedges of various types and sizes using an innovative hedge trimmer. Conventional methods for cutting hedges require considerable physical effort and quickly lead to fatigue, especially with tall or wide hedges.

[0002] The aim of my invention is to provide a simple, practical, and cost-effective solution to the problem of hedge trimming. It also aims to reduce the workload and physical strain on the user. (Technical field)

[0003] The invention relates to the field of horticulture, in particular to mechanical support for cutting hedges. Known state of the art

[0004] From the following publications DE 10 2019 007 005 B3 DE 00 0003 325 562 A1 DE 197 20 684 A1

[0005] The devices, machines, and equipment described in the aforementioned publications are very complex in their design. Some are motor-driven and too prone to technical failures. Furthermore, they are expensive to manufacture and not suitable for everyone.

[0006] The aim of the invention is to reduce the workload and physical strain for the user while simultaneously achieving a uniform cutting pattern. Structure and Function

[0007] The device consists of a manually operated hedge trimmer cart that moves on four wheels. Two of the wheels are steerable and equipped with parking brakes to ensure maximum maneuverability and stability. The chassis is a sturdy rectangular frame on which a frame is mounted vertically, transversely to the chassis in the center ( Fig. 1).

[0008] Both the front and the back of the cart are equipped with an ergonomically designed push handle, allowing the cart to be easily guided in both directions ( Fig. 1).

[0009] For increased stability – especially when cutting tall or wide hedges – commercially available concrete slabs can be placed as ballast in the lower frame of the cart ( Fig. 1).

[0010] A crossbar is attached to the vertical frame, running perpendicular to it, and is adjustable in two directions (horizontally and vertically). To adapt to uneven terrain or sloping hedges, the crossbar can also be attached at an angle to the frame. Fig. 1-5).

[0011] On the front of the traverse there is a mount for a swivel bracket in which a 45° swivel axis is mounted ( Fig. 1) An adapter is attached to this pivot axis, onto which a standard cordless hedge trimmer can be securely mounted. This adapter is attached directly to the cutting blade of the hedge trimmer and absorbs the cutting forces ( Fig. 1-5)

[0012] The 45° swivel axis allows the mounted hedge trimmer to be manually swiveled orbitally 90° from the vertical to the horizontal cutting position after unlocking the axis and then locked again. This enables both front-facing vertical and horizontal cutting of the hedge ( Fig. 1, Fig. 3, Fig. 5).

[0013] For particularly wide or tall hedges, the crossbar with the attached hedge trimmer can be adjusted accordingly and the cutting process can be repeated as often as desired.

[0014] An additional support and a modification of the arrangement allow for an undercut on the hedge. This serves as a guide for subsequent manual finishing trimming ( Fig. 4).

[0015] The device thus allows for three different hedge trimmer positions, which together ensure a three-sided and effortless hedge trim. Thanks to the sliding options on both sides, the cutting process can be carried out in either direction. Advantages of the invention

[0016] The device's simple, safe, and robust design offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional hedge trimming systems. It provides significant ease of use, precise cutting, and versatile application for a wide variety of hedge types and sizes.

[0017] No external power supply (cable) is required.

[0018] The hedge trimmer can be easily disassembled, allowing transport in the trunk of a car.

[0019] A prototype of the device has already been manufactured and is being successfully tested.
