Intelligent flower pot with automatic watering system, comprising: - an outer pot (1), - an inner pot (2) that can be inserted into the outer pot (1) for receiving substrate (3), - a water reservoir (4) in the lower part of the outer pot (1), - at least one moisture sensor (5, 6) arranged in the substrate (3) for measuring soil moisture, - a pump (15) for pumping water from the water reservoir (4) into the substrate (3), characterized by: - ​​a camera (7) arranged on or above the inner pot (2) for recording images of the plant (11) in the inner pot (2), - a microcontroller (8) which has image recognition software and is configured to automatically identify the plant species of the plant (11) based on the images recorded by the camera (7), - a communication interface (9) which is configured to retrieve a plant-specific watering profile from a database depending on the identified plant species,- wherein the microcontroller (8) is configured to control the pump (15) depending on the retrieved irrigation profile and the measured values ​​of the at least one moisture sensor (5, 6).
