Abstract

A two-part, bimaxillary apnea appliance for the treatment of snoring and / or obstructive sleep apnea by mandibular advancement, consisting of an upper jaw splint (1) and a lower jaw splint (2), each having a plastic body (3, 4) adapted to and fixed to the user's dental arches, wherein the upper jaw splint (1) and the lower jaw splint (2) are in contact with each other and are slidable relative to each other, characterized in that the upper jaw splint (1) has a flat sliding surface (5) which interacts with a corresponding sliding surface (6) of the lower jaw splint (2), that two drivers (7) are arranged on the upper jaw splint (1) which can be connected to interchangeable auxiliary parts (8) and fixed by screws (9), that the auxiliary part (8) has a defined width, and that the lower jaw splint (2) has prefabricated extensions (10).into which the auxiliary parts (8) engage and whose inner surfaces (10a) prevent the mandible from sliding backward, and that by exchanging the auxiliary part (8) for other auxiliary parts of a different width a stepwise adjustment of the mandibular position relative to the maxillary splint (1) is effected.
