High-performance heat storage system with vacuum encapsulation, condition monitoring and integrated safety cooling device, comprising a main tank (10) for receiving a heat transfer fluid (60) and a phase change material (40) arranged in the main tank (10), characterized in that the main tank (10) is thermally encapsulated with an insulating layer of vacuum insulation panels (20) and a controllable bypass valve (80) is provided, which is designed to divert the heat transfer fluid (60) into an expansion vessel (100) acting as a heat sink when a limit temperature is reached.
