A freestanding fishpond comprising a wall, wherein the wall comprises at least two panels which can be detachably fastened to each other to form a housing, and a flexible waterproof lining which can be inserted into the housing, wherein the fishpond further comprises at least one base element which can be fastened between the base of each of the at least two panels in order to create tension between them.
