Treadmill arrangement comprising a treadmill frame and an endless belt running over rollers held in the treadmill frame and driven by a control and drive unit, one surface of which serves as a walking or running surface, wherein the control unit in a first operating state in a safety mode only allows a limited belt speed and in a second operating state allows higher belt speeds, and wherein a position sensor is located in the area of ​​the endless belt which stops the belt running as soon as the approach of a leg or foot towards the end of the belt is detected, and wherein the belt speed in safety mode is reduced so that falling from the endless belt is excluded in this operating state.
