Abstract

A spark plug (100, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800) comprising: a housing (102) with a longitudinal axis (104), a first end (106), a second end (108) opposite the first end (106) relative to the longitudinal axis (104), and an end surface (110) arranged at the first end (106), the end surface (110) extending radially relative to the longitudinal axis (104) between an outer edge (112) and an inner edge (114); an insulator (116) arranged at least partially within the housing (102); a center electrode (118) arranged at least partially within the insulator (116);and a plurality of ground electrodes (120, 320, 420), each forming a spark gap (122) with the center electrode (118), each of the ground electrodes (120, 320, 420) extending such that the end face (110) of the shell (102) has a plurality of intermediate sections (124, 624, 724) arranged between the plurality of ground electrodes (120, 320, 420), each intermediate section (124, 624, 724) from the plurality of intermediate sections (124, 624, 724) being arranged between corresponding adjacent ground electrodes (120, 320, 420) from the plurality of ground electrodes (120, 320, 420), each ground electrode (120, 320, 420) has at least one side wall (132, 332, 432) which faces an adjacent intermediate section (124, 624, 724) from the plurality of intermediate sections (124, 624, 724);characterized in that: at least one of the at least one intermediate section (124, 624, 724) from the plurality of intermediate sections (124, 624, 724) or the at least one side wall (132, 332, 432) of the corresponding adjacent ground electrode (120, 320, 420) is curved to define a flow channel which is designed to guide an air-fuel mixture.
