Abstract

A striking device (6) for killing a rodent, comprising a striking element (7) pivotably mounted about an axis of rotation, a spring device for pre-tensioning the striking element (7), and a release mechanism (12) for holding the striking element (7) in a home position and for releasing the striking element (7), wherein the striking element (7) has a striking surface (8) formed from several parallel rods (9) and is pivotable about the axis of rotation from the home position to a striking position, wherein the striking element (7) is held in the home position by the release mechanism (12) and, when released by the release mechanism (12), is pivoted into the striking position due to the spring force, in which a rodent can be struck against a support surface (14).
