System for analyzing the pressure drop characteristics of coal-water-sludge suspensions during flow through pipelines

Abstract

A system for analyzing the pressure drop characteristics of coal-water suspensions during flow through pipelines, comprising: a) a sludge preparation tank designed to produce coal-water suspensions with coal particles of different grain sizes; b) an agitator operationally installed in the suspension preparation tank and configured to prevent coal particles from settling in the suspension; c) a centrifugal pump configured to draw the suspension from the suspension preparation tank and induce the flow of the suspension through a pipeline; d) a flow meter configured to measure the flow rate in the pipeline; e) one or more pressure sensors configured to measure the pressure at various points along the pipeline;and f) a data acquisition system configured to receive and store data from the flow meter and one or more pressure transducers.;
