Device for manufacturing a vehicle license plate, comprising a housing and modules arranged therein, namely: • a module for embossing tools, • an embossing module designed to emboss symbols of a vehicle license plate onto a license plate blank using the embossing tools, • a color application module designed to apply color to an embossed license plate blank using thermal transfer foils, • an output module for the finished vehicle license plate, • a module for reading an individual identifier from the license plate blank, • a device for moving license plate blanks, finished vehicle license plates and embossing tools, and • a central control unit for controlling the manufacturing process of the vehicle license plate, designed to interact with a database of government vehicle registers, • characterized in that the device additionally comprises, arranged in the housing: • a user interface module designed toto read a user-identifying document, to interact with the database of state vehicle registers via the central control unit to control the vehicle license plate manufacturing process, to enable user input of commands and to process payments, • a storage module for license plate blanks and • a feed module for feeding license plate blanks and embossing tools to the embossing module, • wherein the ink application module is equipped with a device for automatically changing the thermal transfer foil, • and the device for moving license plate blanks, finished vehicle license plates and embossing tools comprises a robot manipulator and a motion module of the robot manipulator and is designed to ensure automatic movement of: ◯ license plate blanks from the storage module to the feed module for feeding license plate blanks and embossing tools,◯ License plate blanks from the storage module to the module for reading an individual identifier from the license plate blank, ◯ Embossing tools between the embossing module and the feed module for feeding license plate blanks and embossing tools, ◯ Embossed license plate blanks from the embossing module to the ink application module, ◯ Finished vehicle license plates from the ink application module to the output module for the finished vehicle license plate.
