Abstract
A system for assessing periodontal condition by means of electronic impedance measurement, comprising: a probe arrangement with at least two electrically conductive electrodes spatially arranged to contact an area of gingival tissue and a tooth-associated periodontal interface, the electrodes being configured to introduce a controlled electrical excitation signal into the tissue area; a signal generation unit operatively coupled to the probe arrangement and configured to generate the electrical excitation signal with a predefined amplitude profile and a selectable frequency range suitable for impedance measurement of biological tissue;a sensor unit electrically coupled to the probe assembly and configured to detect response signals corresponding to voltage and current changes resulting from the interaction of the electrical excitation signal with the periodontal tissue; an analog processing unit consisting of amplification circuits, noise reduction circuits, and isolation circuits configured to process the detected response signals to reduce interference and improve signal fidelity; an analog-to-digital converter unit configured to convert the processed response signals into digital data streams;a processing unit that is operatively coupled to the analog-to-digital converter unit and configured to determine the impedance properties of the periodontal tissue based on the digital data streams, the impedance properties corresponding to variations in tissue structure, hydration level, and inflammatory state; and a display unit that is operatively connected to the processing unit and configured to display an assessment of the periodontal condition, providing information about the health status of the tissue.
