Device for the volume reduction of biomass with heat recovery

Abstract

Device (1, 21) for the volume reduction of biomass, in particular for biogas production and fertilizer production, comprising: a. a fermenter (9) for the production of biogas from substrate, b. a substrate feed device (3) for feeding substrate into the fermenter (9), c. a digestate storage tank (15) for storing the final substrate and for providing organic fertilizer, d. a substrate discharge line (14) for removing the final substrate and feeding the final substrate into the digestate storage tank (15), characterized in that e. a separator (4) is provided which is connected to the substrate feed device (3) in order to divide the substrate into thin substrate (5) and thick substrate (6), f. a heat exchanger (7) is provided, the primary circuit of which is connected to the substrate discharge line (14) and through which the final substrate can flow, g.wherein the secondary circuit of the heat exchanger (7) is connected such that the thin substrate (5) passes through the secondary circuit after the separator (4) and is heated, i.e., wherein the outlet of the secondary circuit opens back into the substrate feed device (3) before the fermenter (9), so that thin and thick substrate (5, 6) are combined, or opens directly into the fermenter (9), so that thin and thick substrate (5, 6) are each fed into the fermenter (9) individually.
