Abstract

A monitoring system for the root growth of green plants coupled with an L-system and environmental perception, characterized in that it comprises: a sensor network comprising several sensor nodes, each sensor node being equipped with a sensor that acquires environmental factor data in a corresponding monitoring area; an edge server that is communicatively connected to the sensor network and comprises: a first memory comprising hardware-independent memory partitions for sensor data, an empirical formula database, and a dynamic response model based on the L-system; a first processor comprising: a sensor data processing unit whose input is connected to the memory partition for sensor data and which serves to process the environmental factor data and output unified environmental factor data;an instruction generation unit whose input is connected to the memory partition for the empirical formula database and the sensor data processing unit, and which serves to output dynamic instructions based on the empirical formula database and the unified environmental factor data, which drive the iteration of the dynamic reaction model based on the L-system; a model execution unit whose input is connected to the memory partition for the dynamic reaction model based on the L-system and the instruction generation unit, and which serves to drive the dynamic reaction model based on the L-system with the dynamic instructions in order to update it iteratively and thus generate a three-dimensional fractal root structure;a warning server that is communicatively connected to the edge server and includes: a second memory that includes hardware-independent memory partitions for ideal growth curves, environmental factor thresholds, and environmental factors and three-dimensional roots; a second processor that includes: a growth deviation calculation unit whose input is connected to the memory partition for environmental factors and three-dimensional roots as well as the memory partition for ideal growth curves, and which serves to compare the three-dimensional fractal root structure with the ideal growth curves and to calculate a growth deviation as well as a plant health assessment;a warning information generation unit, the input of which is connected to the storage partition for environmental factors and three-dimensional roots as well as the storage partition for the environmental factor thresholds, and which serves to compare the unified environmental factor data with the environmental factor thresholds and to generate a warning information.
