A phytochemical composition of several herbs for modulating the gut microbiome and treating disorders of the intestinal immune system, comprising the following: Carpaines 20 to 30 parts; Mahanimbine 15 to 25 parts; Berberine 15 to 25 parts; Diosgenin 5 to 15 parts; Glycyrrhizin 5 to 10 parts; Ginsenosides 5 to 10 parts; Bacoside A3 3 to 8 parts; Chebulaginic acid 3 to 8 parts; and Piperine 1 to 3 parts as a bioavailability enhancer; together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients selected from microcrystalline cellulose 20 to 40 parts, lactose monohydrate 10 to 25 parts, sodium croscarmellose 2 to 5 parts by weight, colloidal silicon dioxide 0.5 to 1.5 parts by weight, magnesium stearate 0.5 to 1.5 parts by weight and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2 to 6 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the active ingredient mixture.
