Claims
When a protruding hollow or solid piston rod is installed, the piston, even if the connecting rod ratio to the crank is extremely unfavorable, is forced into a straight path. This means that the fixed installation in the cylinder forces the piston into an absolutely straight movement and anticipates the pressure of the cornering motion; the cylinder wall is thus freed from this most damaging of all movements. Since the diameter of the installation is smaller than that of the cylinder, the areas are also smaller, and furthermore, the lever arm is many times more favorable in the center of the piston compared to the circumference of the piston. For machines with low temperatures, it is sufficient if the guide rod is solid and robust, but for motors or machines that need to be cooled or heated, the guide rod is preferably hollow. Central guide rods for pistons with rigid piston rods are already known. In these designs, the guide rod and piston rod slide telescopically into one another. Such a guide is not applicable to pistons with connecting rods, where the risk of angling is particularly high at high rotational speeds. In this embodiment, the guide rod is also used for cooling or heating and for lubricating the piston. It consists of a tube that forms a central extension of the water jacket 4. The tube is divided into two parts by a crossbar 9, so that the upper part forms the extension of the cooling water chamber S. The lower part serves as an oil supply and has a small bore 10 for the passage of oil to the inner cylinder wall. The oil is supplied through the supply pipe 11 at the lower end of the central tube 4. To prevent the oil in the tube 4 from overheating (or cooling down), a drain pipe 12 is provided, which projects slightly beyond the bore 10, allowing the oil to circulate. Patent claims:
1. Guide for piston with connecting rod, characterized in that a fixed guide rod (4) passing through the piston which is bored in its longitudinal direction is arranged between two connecting rods (3, 3') known per se.
