Description

[0001] The invention relates to a method for operating a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, according to patent claim 1, a device for operating a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, according to patent claim 9 and a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, for carrying out the method according to patent claim 10.

[0002] It is known to provide a device on a vehicle by means of which vehicle operation can be optimized by taking into account changes in the road gradient in front of the vehicle in the direction of travel. Driving operation is thereby optimized to reduce the vehicle's fuel consumption or energy consumption.

[0003] For example, DE 10 2010 048 323 A1 discloses an operating method for a motor vehicle in which at least one consumption-relevant road characteristic of a road on the upcoming route of the motor vehicle is first determined, and then a driving recommendation is determined based on the determined consumption-relevant road characteristic on the upcoming route of the motor vehicle. This driving recommendation can then be communicated to a driver of the vehicle. Specifically, for example, it is checked whether there is a hill on the upcoming route of the motor vehicle that the motor vehicle will drive over. If the motor vehicle is close to such a hill, a driving recommendation is issued to reduce the motor vehicle's drive power or even to coast to a stop without propulsion.Once the vehicle has passed the hill and is on a downhill stretch, a driving recommendation to increase the driving speed is also given.

[0004] WO 2014 / 086644 A2 discloses a method for operating a regenerative braking system of a motor vehicle and a regenerative braking system. US 2010 / 138099 A1 discloses a method for generating travel paths and a device for generating travel paths. US 2016 / 018821 A1 discloses a remote control device and a remote control system using this device. DE 196 48 943 A1 discloses an automatic driving control unit for vehicles. DE 10 2009 033 752 A1 discloses a method and a device for switching various functions. US 2015 / 375756 A1 discloses the determination of a risk of vehicle collisions. WO 2014 / 003637 A1 discloses a method and a system for controlling a regenerative braking system in a vehicle.

[0005] The object of the invention is to provide a method for operating a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, and a device for operating a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, by means of which the vehicle operation can be further optimized in a simple and effective manner.

[0006] This problem is solved by the features of the independent patent claims. Preferred developments are disclosed in the subclaims.

[0007] According to claim 1, a method for operating a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, is proposed, wherein the vehicle has a travel information determination device by means of which at least the current position, in particular together with the currently set travel route, of the moving vehicle is continuously determined as current travel information. Furthermore, a driving strategy determination device is provided by means of which, based on the determined travel information and on map data stored in a memory device, it is first detected whether a curve, in particular one with a defined curve profile, is located in front of the vehicle in the direction of travel. If such a curve is detected by the driving strategy determination device, an optimal driving strategy, in particular an energy-optimized driving strategy, for driving through the curve is determined by the driving strategy determination device on the basis of stored and / or determined curve information and on the basis of vehicle information.

[0008] In this way, vehicle operation can be further optimized, since the optimal driving strategy determined according to the invention for negotiating a detected, upcoming curve can now also be optimized with regard to negotiating a curve. Based on the stored and / or determined curve information and the vehicle information, the optimal driving strategy for negotiating the upcoming curve can be determined simply and effectively.

[0009] The term "negotiating a curve" is explicitly to be understood in a broad sense here. Thus, negotiating a curve should also include approaching the curve, so that the driving strategy determination system can also determine an optimal driving strategy for approaching the curve.

[0010] Furthermore, a variety of driving strategies are conceivable for optimizing cornering. For example, if a detected upcoming curve is to be negotiated with optimal energy consumption or the lowest possible energy consumption, the driving strategy can be used to specify a reduction in vehicle speed before reaching the curve in order to reduce the lateral forces acting during cornering. A wear-optimized driving strategy can, for example, optimize the use of the vehicle's braking systems, in particular a vehicle's regenerative braking system. A safety-optimized driving strategy can, for example, specify the vehicle's speed, deceleration, and acceleration.

[0011] In principle, a driving strategy can of course be determined for any upcoming curve and transmitted to the vehicle. However, it is preferable to determine an optimal driving strategy for negotiating the curve only for upcoming curves with a defined curve profile in order to increase the efficiency of the method according to the invention. For example, the optimal driving strategy can be determined only for upcoming curves whose curve radius is less than a defined value, so that the driving strategy is only determined for tighter or particularly tight curves.

[0012] In a comparative form of method control not encompassed by the invention, the optimal driving strategy is determined on the basis of map-based curve data stored in the vehicle-mounted memory device as curve information by means of the vehicle-mounted driving strategy determination device, which is formed in particular by a control unit of the vehicle. In this way, the optimal driving strategy for negotiating the curve can be effectively determined. The map-based curve data can be formed, for example, by the curve radius of the detected curve ahead or by a prescribed speed limit for negotiating the detected curve. In addition, the map-based curve data can also be formed, for example, by the curve course, by the change in the curve radius along the curve, by the length of the curve, or by the width or width profile of the roadway or the vehicle's lane.

[0013] According to the invention, the optimal driving strategy is determined based on empirical data stored in the vehicle-mounted memory device for negotiating at least one curve, in particular the detected curve and / or at least one curve with an identical or similar curve profile, with the vehicle as curve information by means of the vehicle-mounted driving strategy determination device, in particular formed by a control unit of the vehicle. The optimal driving strategy can thus be determined in a particularly simple and simultaneously effective manner.

[0014] Preferably, current vehicle condition data are determined while negotiating the detected curve using a condition determination device of the vehicle. This determined current vehicle condition data is then stored as empirical data in the vehicle-side memory device. This further increases the effectiveness of the method according to the invention, since the vehicle condition data stored in the vehicle-side memory device as new empirical data can be used to determine an optimal driving strategy for negotiating the curve when the vehicle is negotiating the curve again or a curve with an identical or similar curve profile. The effectiveness of determining optimal driving strategies for negotiating curves therefore also increases with the amount of empirical data stored in the memory device.

[0015] Preferably, these determined current vehicle status data are formed by the speed curve of the vehicle while negotiating the curve and / or by the at least one selected gear of a vehicle transmission while negotiating the curve and / or by the acceleration curve (positive and negative acceleration) of the vehicle while negotiating the curve and / or by the energy consumption of the vehicle, in particular by the fuel consumption of the vehicle, while negotiating the curve. These vehicle status data represent particularly valuable or useful empirical data for determining an optimal driving strategy when negotiating the curve again or when negotiating a curve with a similar or identical curve profile.

[0016] As an alternative to determining the optimal route using data stored in a vehicle-mounted storage device, in a comparative form not encompassed by the invention, the driving strategy determination device can also be formed by an evaluation station external to the vehicle, in particular by a cloud server external to the vehicle, which is connected to the vehicle for data transmission. The optimal driving strategy is then determined by the driving strategy determination device based on data stored in a storage device of the evaluation station as curve information. This allows particularly effective driving strategies to be determined, since the evaluation station external to the vehicle can store a particularly large amount of curve information and simultaneously quickly evaluate it for optimal cornering. The curve information stored in the storage device can also be formed from map-based curve data or from empirical data on the vehicle's negotiation of at least one curve, in particular the detected curve and / or at least one curve with an identical or similar curve profile. The use of such an evaluation station also has the advantage that a single evaluation station can be used by a large number of vehicles to determine optimal driving strategies for negotiating curves. In this case, no or only minor modifications are required to optimize the vehicle's negotiation of the curve. The vehicles can communicate with the evaluation station, for example, via a UMTS data connection.

[0017] According to the invention, at least one drive component of the vehicle is controlled independently or automatically by means of a control unit of the vehicle in order to maintain the determined, preferably optimal, driving strategy. This ensures conveniently and reliably that the vehicle is operated according to the determined driving strategy. According to the invention, the at least one drive component is formed by an internal combustion engine of the vehicle and / or by a vehicle transmission and / or by an electric motor of the vehicle. In this case, for example, with a driving strategy that optimizes energy consumption, the deactivation of parts of the drive train when the vehicle is braking or coasting, the operating mode of the internal combustion engine or the shifting behavior of the vehicle transmission, in particular during vehicle acceleration, can be optimized.

[0018] Alternatively or additionally, at least one braking system of the vehicle can be controlled independently or automatically by a vehicle control unit to maintain the determined optimal driving strategy. This also ensures, conveniently and reliably, that the vehicle is operated according to the determined driving strategy. Preferably, the at least one braking system is formed by at least one regenerative braking system of the vehicle.

[0019] It is further advantageous if the vehicle has an actuating device, in particular a button and / or a switch, that can be actuated by a driver of the vehicle, by means of which the automatic control of the at least one drive component and / or the at least one braking system can be deactivated, in particular deactivated and activated. Using such an actuating device, the driver can easily deactivate the automatic control of the at least one drive component or the at least one braking system if they do not desire such control or do not consider it necessary.

[0020] Further preferably, the driving strategy transmitted to the vehicle is displayed to the driver of the vehicle via a display device, in particular a screen. This allows the driver to be effectively informed about the determined driving strategy. If necessary, the driver can also steer the vehicle himself to adhere to the displayed driving strategy using such a display.

[0021] The vehicle information used to determine the optimal driving strategy is preferably formed by current vehicle status data, which is determined by a status determination device of the vehicle. It is preferably provided that the determined current vehicle status data is formed by the current speed of the vehicle and / or by the currently selected gear of a vehicle transmission and / or by the amount of electrical energy currently stored by an energy storage device of the vehicle and / or by the amount of fuel stored in a fuel tank of the vehicle. Using this current vehicle status data, the optimal driving strategy for negotiating a detected upcoming curve can be effectively determined.

[0022] Further preferably, the vehicle information acquired to determine the optimal driving strategy is based on the vehicle type and / or the current vehicle load and / or the vehicle's engine. Using this vehicle information, the optimal driving strategy for negotiating a detected curve ahead can be effectively determined.

[0023] It is also advantageous if the driving strategy determination system is implemented as an AI (artificial intelligence)-based system. Such an AI-based system can determine the optimal driving strategy particularly effectively.

[0024] To achieve the aforementioned object, a device for operating a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, is further claimed, wherein the vehicle has a travel information determination device by means of which at least the current position, in particular together with the currently set travel route, of the moving vehicle can be continuously determined as current travel information. Furthermore, a driving strategy determination device is provided by means of which, based on the determined travel information and on map data stored in a memory device, it can be determined whether a curve, in particular one with a defined curve profile, is located in front of the vehicle in the direction of travel. If a curve is detected by means of the driving strategy determination device, an optimal, in particular an energy-consumption-optimized, driving strategy for driving through the curve can be determined by means of the driving strategy determination device on the basis of stored and / or determined curve information and on the basis of vehicle information, wherein at least one vehicle component of the vehicle is controlled by means of a control unit of the vehicle in order to adhere to the determined driving strategy, and wherein at least one drive component of the vehicle is controlled automatically by means of a control unit of the vehicle in order to adhere to the determined optimal driving strategy, wherein it is provided that the at least one drive component is formed by an internal combustion engine of the vehicle and / or by a vehicle transmission and / or by an electric machine of the vehicle.According to the invention, the optimal driving strategy is determined on the basis of experience data stored in the vehicle-side storage device for driving through at least one curve, in particular the detected curve and / or at least one curve with an identical or similar curve profile, with the vehicle as curve information by means of the vehicle-side driving strategy determination device, in particular formed by a control unit of the vehicle.

[0025] Furthermore, a vehicle, in particular a commercial vehicle, for carrying out the method according to the invention is also claimed.

[0026] The advantages resulting from the device according to the invention and the vehicle according to the invention are identical to the already appreciated advantages of the method according to the invention, so that they are not repeated here.

[0027] The invention and its advantageous embodiments and / or further developments as well as their advantages are explained in more detail below with reference to drawings merely by way of example.

[0028] They show: Figure 1 shows a schematic representation explaining the process according to the invention; Figure 2 shows a schematic representation showing the structure of a device according to the invention; Figure 3 shows a flow diagram explaining the process according to the invention; and Figure 4 shows a representation according to Figure 2 a second embodiment of the device according to the invention.

[0029] In Figure 1a vehicle 3 traveling on a roadway 1 is shown in three driving situations 5, 7, 9. In a first driving situation 5, the vehicle 1 is located, viewed in the direction of travel, immediately before a curve 11 of the roadway 1. In a later second driving situation 7, the vehicle is located in the middle of the curve 11, so that the curve 11 is being negotiated by the vehicle 1. In a third driving situation 9, which is even later, the vehicle 1 has negotiated the curve 11, so that the curve 11 is located behind the vehicle 1 in the direction of travel. The vehicle is formed here, for example, by a train combination comprising a towing vehicle 13 and a trailer 15 coupled to the towing vehicle 13. In addition, the vehicle 1 has a Fig. 1 Device 17 according to the invention, indicated by dashed lines, for operating the vehicle 1.

[0030] The structure of this device 17 is described below with reference to Figure 2 explained in more detail: As in Figure 2 As shown schematically, the vehicle 1 has a trip information determination device 25, by means of which the current position and the current route of the vehicle 1 are continuously or continuously redetermined as trip information. In addition, the vehicle also has a state determination device 27, by means of which the current state of the vehicle is also continuously or continuously redetermined. Specifically, the current speed of the vehicle 1, the currently selected gear of a vehicle transmission and the amount of fuel stored in a fuel tank of the vehicle 1 are continuously determined as vehicle state data by means of the state determination device 27. The determination of the current trip information and the current vehicle state data can be activated automatically, for example, when the vehicle 1 is started.

[0031] Furthermore, the trip information determination device 25 and the status determination device 27 of the vehicle 1 are connected for data transmission to a control unit 33 of the vehicle 1, so that the determined current trip information and the determined vehicle status data are transmitted as vehicle information to the control unit 33 of the vehicle 1. Vehicle information is also stored in the control unit 33. This stored vehicle information is formed, for example, by the vehicle type, the current load state of the vehicle 1, and the engine of the vehicle 1. Furthermore, the control unit 33 is also connected for data transmission to a storage device 37 of the vehicle 1, in which map data or road data are stored.

[0032] The control unit 33 forms a driving strategy determination device, by means of which it is continuously or continuously determined, based on the current driving information of the vehicle 1 determined by the driving information determination device 25 and based on the road data stored in the memory device 37, whether there is a curve with a defined curve course directly in front of the vehicle 1 in the direction of travel. If such a curve is determined or detected by the driving strategy determination device 33, the driving strategy determination device 33 determines an optimal, in particular an energy-consumption-optimized, driving strategy for negotiating the curve based on the curve information stored in the memory device 37, the determined current vehicle status data and the vehicle information stored in the control unit 33. Figure 1The optimal driving strategy is determined in the first driving situation 5 of vehicle 1 before curve 11 based on the road course shown.

[0033] The curve information used to determine the optimal driving strategy is formed here, for example, by map-based curve data stored in the memory device 37, for example, by the curve radius of the detected curve. Furthermore, the curve information stored in the memory device 37 is also formed here, for example, by stored empirical data on driving through at least one curve, in particular the detected curve and / or at least one curve with an identical or similar curve profile, with the vehicle 1.

[0034] After determining the optimal driving strategy for negotiating the detected curve ahead, an internal combustion engine 39, a transmission 41, and a regenerative braking system 43 of vehicle 1 are controlled, for example, by means of control unit 33, such that the vehicle adheres to the determined optimal driving strategy for negotiating the curve ahead. Optionally, control unit 33 can also control a vehicle screen 45, indicated by dashed lines, so that the determined driving strategy is displayed to a driver of vehicle 1 on screen 45.

[0035] Furthermore, the vehicle here also has, for example, an actuating device 46 which can be actuated by the driver of the vehicle 1, for example a button and / or a switch, by means of which the automatic control of the internal combustion engine 39, the transmission 41 and the recuperation braking system 43 of the vehicle 1 can be deactivated and activated.

[0036] After negotiating the curve, vehicle condition data determined during the curve by means of the condition determination device 27 are stored as empirical data in the memory device 37 of the vehicle 1, which is connected to the condition determination device 27 for data transmission. These vehicle condition data to be stored are formed here, for example, by the speed profile of the vehicle 1 during the curve, by the at least one direct gear of the vehicle transmission 41 during the curve, by the acceleration profile of the vehicle 1 during the curve, and by the fuel consumption of the vehicle 1 during the curve. Figure 1 The vehicle status data determined during cornering is stored in the third driving situation 9 of vehicle 1 according to the road course shown.

[0037] In Figure 3a flow chart is shown which summarizes the method according to the invention: After the vehicle 1 has started, the current travel information and the current vehicle status data are continuously determined as vehicle information by means of the travel information determination device 25 and the status determination device 27 and forwarded to the control unit 33 of the vehicle 1. By means of the control unit 33, it is then continuously determined according to the decision diamond 47 whether there is a bend with a defined curve profile in front of the vehicle in the direction of travel. If there is such a bend in front of the vehicle 1, an optimal driving strategy for negotiating this bend is determined. Subsequently, vehicle components, in this case the internal combustion engine 39, the transmission 41 and the recuperation braking system 43 of the vehicle 1, are controlled by means of the control unit 33 to adhere to the determined driving strategy. After passing through the curve, the vehicle status data determined during the curve passage are then transmitted to the storage device 37 and stored there as experience data.

[0038] In Figure 4 A second embodiment of a device or system 49 according to the invention is shown. In comparison to the device shown in Figure 2 In the device 17 shown, this device 49 has a schematically indicated evaluation station 51 connected to the vehicle 1 for data transmission. This evaluation station 51 can be formed, for example, by a cloud server.

[0039] Specifically, the vehicle 1 here has a transmitting and receiving device 53 connected to the travel information determination device 25 and the state determination device 27 of the vehicle 1 for data transmission. By means of this transmitting and receiving device 53, the current travel information determined by the travel information determination device 25 and the current vehicle state data determined by the state determination device 27 are continuously or continuously transmitted to a transmitting and receiving device 55 of the evaluation station 51, which is connected to the vehicle-side transmitting and receiving device 53 for data transmission. This transmission of the current travel information and the current vehicle state data as vehicle information to the evaluation station 51 can be activated, for example, when a driver of the vehicle 1 activates a speed control system or cruise control of the vehicle 1.In addition, the vehicle information stored in the control unit 33 of the vehicle 1, for example, the vehicle type, is also transmitted to the evaluation station 51 via the vehicle-side transmitting and receiving device 53. The transmission of this stored vehicle information can also be activated when a cruise control system of the vehicle 1 is activated.

[0040] As from Figure 2As can be seen further, the evaluation station 51 has a driving strategy determination device 57 which is connected to the transmitting and receiving device 55 for data transmission and by means of which the optimal driving strategy for driving through the detected upcoming bend is determined. Thus, the driving strategy determination device is not formed here by the control unit 33 of the vehicle 1, but rather by the vehicle-external evaluation station 51. The driving strategy determination device 57 is connected for data transmission to a memory device 59 of the evaluation station 51, in which map data or road data are stored. Based on the driving information and vehicle information transmitted to the evaluation station 51 and based on the road data stored in the memory device 59, the driving strategy determination device 57 here also continuously orcontinuously checks whether there is a curve with a defined curve course directly in front of the vehicle in the direction of travel. If such a curve is detected or recorded by the driving strategy determination device 57, the driving strategy determination device 57 determines an optimal driving strategy for negotiating the detected curve based on curve information stored in the storage device 59, here also map-based curve data and empirical data, as well as on the basis of the transmitted vehicle information of the vehicle 1.

[0041] The determined driving strategy is then transmitted to vehicle 1 via the transmitting and receiving device 55 before negotiating the curve and forwarded to the control unit 33 of vehicle 1. Subsequently, vehicle components—here, the internal combustion engine 39, the transmission 41, and the regenerative braking system 43 of vehicle 1—are controlled by the control unit 33 to maintain the determined driving strategy. After negotiating the curve, the vehicle status data determined during the curve negotiation are transmitted to the evaluation station 51, where they are stored as empirical data in the storage device 59.
