Description

[0001] The invention relates to a finishing element for an underside connection with a gate leaf, wherein the finishing element is designed as a profile.

[0002] EP 2 851 501 A1 discloses a sectional door with a door leaf formed from individual, horizontally extending segments connected to each other along a horizontal axis by means of rotatable joints, such that the door leaf can be moved from a closed position to an open position and from the open position to the closed position. Furthermore, a door is integrated into the door leaf, the door leaf having essentially the same construction as the door leaf. At least in the area of the door leaf, a stabilizing element, designed as a profile, is arranged below the door leaf.

[0003] Door leaves, whether sectional or up-and-over, have a bottom edge trim. This is particularly relevant when the door leaf also includes a door whose leaf can be pivoted when the door leaf is closed. Such a trim trim has at least one seal on its underside, facing the building's ground. For movable door leaves, it is important that no gaps remain between the door leaf and the ground when closed. Such gaps can occur, for example, if the area beneath the door leaf is not perfectly level or if stones are present, especially when the trim trim rests flat on the ground (e.g., thresholds).

[0004] The object of the invention is to design a sealing element for connection to the underside of a gate leaf in such a way as to achieve the best possible sealing and support for the gate leaf. The sealing element should have a high moment of resistance in order to be equally suitable for use with gate leaves that incorporate a door; this applies particularly to barrier-free access.

[0005] The object of the invention is achieved by the features of claim 1. The subsequent dependent claims describe a further embodiment of the inventive concept.

[0006] A profiled end element, designed for mounting on the bottom panel of a sectional door or a one-piece up-and-over door, is particularly distinguished by its cost-effective manufacturing process, preferably using a lightweight metal profile with a high section modulus. The profile has a flat top surface in cross-section, which may be textured or grooved along its length to provide slip resistance for pedestrians when used in conjunction with a door within the door leaf. Furthermore, to ensure barrier-free access at the doorway, the end element features sloping side surfaces extending from the top surface. The overall height of the end element is less than 20 mm, allowing for easy, trip-free access. The downward-facing chamfers between the top surface and the side surfaces also contribute to a secure transition over the end element. Adjoining the side surfaces, a contact surface is provided on the underside of each end element, essentially parallel to the surface. To ensure that only the contact surfaces make contact with the ground and thus provide a secure seal, a clearance is provided between the two lateral contact surfaces. This makes it clear that the contact surfaces are only narrow. A ratio of 2.5% to 5% of the width of each contact surface to the total width of the end element has proven sufficient. In a further preferred embodiment, the width of the lower contact surfaces can also be between 2.5% and 15% of the width of the end element. It is also possible that the width of each of the contact surfaces can be between 2% and 25% of the total width of the end element.

[0007] The end element, with its essentially rectangular cross-section, represents a component that has a large section modulus and is therefore inherently stable against twisting, while at the same time ensuring barrier-free access for people due to its low height.

[0008] The underside of the end cap also features further material reliefs. For example, a longitudinal recess runs the entire length of the end cap. This recess is designed for attaching the end cap to the door leaf or door leaf components using screws. A similarly designed mounting channel is also present. Holes can be drilled in the base of this channel, also for connecting to the door leaf, allowing the end cap to be mounted using screws. This mounting channel extends the entire length of the end cap and has an opening at the bottom to accommodate a sealing element. Additionally, screw channels can be provided along the length of the end cap to attach end plates or caps.

[0009] The invention is explained in more detail below using a possible embodiment as an example. Figure 1: A cross-section of a connecting element; Figure 2: as Figure 1, but in a perspective view; Figure 3: another perspective view of the end element.

[0010] Figure 1 shows an end element 1, which can be manufactured as a profile made of light metal. The cross-section of the end element 1 has a top surface 2, which may be textured or grooved. Within the top surface 2, grooves 3 may also be present, for example, to allow mounting elements of a gate leaf or door to engage. Starting from the top surface 2, chamfers 4 are provided on each side, facilitating easier passage of equipment over the end element 1. Beyond these chamfers 4, side surfaces 5 are provided on each side, sloping down towards the ground. Since the overall height of the end element 1 is less than 20 mm, crossing it is also easily accomplished. This specification of an overall height of less than 20 mm includes all height dimensions below 20 mm that provide the end element 1 with sufficient resistance to bending in accordance with safety regulations. The side surfaces 5 transition into an underside on which the contact surfaces 6 are located, which are essentially parallel to the upper surface 2. The contact surfaces 6 may preferably be provided with longitudinal grooves. This allows for better ground contact, resulting in a tighter seal of the gate leaf in the closed position.

[0011] A material clearance 7 is provided between the two lateral support surfaces 6, so that the support surfaces 6 project beyond the material clearance 7 on the ground side. This also facilitates a ground-side seal. Along the longitudinal direction of the end element 1, the material clearance 7 includes, among other features, a recess 8, which is formed along the longitudinal direction of the end element 1. According to Figure 2, this recess 8 is used to create a connection to a part of the gate leaf located above it via bores, screws, or connecting elements introduced into the end element 1.

[0012] Furthermore, a receiving channel 10 is formed longitudinally in the area of the material clearance of the end element 1, which has an opening 12 facing downwards. The design of the receiving channel 10 is such that the opening 12 is narrower than the inner part of the receiving channel 10. A sealing element, which is provided with lips on the bottom side, can be inserted into this receiving channel 10. To ensure a secure fit of this sealing element, projections 11 are provided laterally within the receiving channel 10 for positioning the sealing element.

[0013] The receiving channel 10 is further designed so that connecting elements (not shown here) can be inserted into upper components of the door leaf via bores. The head of such a connecting element is closed off downwards by the sealing element. Screw channels also run longitudinally along the end element 1, which are used for connecting attachments to the door leaf.

[0014] The design of the end element 1, as described in the cross-section, can be seen in the perspective representations of Figures 2 and 3. Reference sign
