Abstract

The invention relates to a motor vehicle lock (1) having a latch (2) which is pivotable about a latch axis (2a) and which can be brought into an opening position and into at least one closing position. In the assembled state, the latch (2) is in retaining engagement with a closing part (3), in particular a striker, in the closing position, and in the opening position, the latch releases the closing part, the motor vehicle lock (1) having a blocking mechanism (4) which can be brought into a blocking state in which it blocks the latch (2) in the closing position, and which can be brought into a release state in which it releases the latch (2) into its opening position, the blocking mechanism (4) comprising a pawl assembly (5) having a pawl (7) which is pivotally mounted via a pivot bearing (6) for blocking engagement with the latch (2). The invention is characterised in that a crash blocking surface (8) is provided and in that, in the event of a crash, when the pawl (7) or the pivot bearing (6) thereof yields due to deformation, an engaging surface (9) of the pawl (7) comes into engagement with the crash blocking surface (8) due to crash forces transmitted by the closing part (3), so that the crash forces are at least partially dissipated via the crash blocking surface (8).
