Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a cover for a drawer side panel, in particular a double-walled drawer side panel, which has an outer wall with an outer visible surface and a rear surface facing away from the visible surface, with two spaced-apart, separate recesses, wherein the cover has fastening means by which it can be fixed to the rear surface of the outer wall of the drawer side panel, wherein a visible section of the cover can be placed against the outer wall with its rear surface. The invention further relates to a drawer side panel with such a cover.
[0002] Such covers are common on drawers to display company logos or other information on their visible surface. The covers should be attached to the drawer, preferably with a removable mechanism, but still hold securely in place during operation. It is also advantageous if the drawers maintain an aesthetically pleasing appearance even without the cover. A cover of this type is known, for example, from DE 20 2016 107059 U1.
[0003] For the latter reason, the cover is now attached to the back of the outer wall using fasteners, so that the visible surface of the outer wall does not need to be provided with disruptive recesses or other fastening elements. The object of the invention is to provide a cover and a drawer side panel with such a cover, which make it possible to easily mount the cover while still ensuring a secure positioning of the cover on the drawer side panel.
[0004] According to the invention, this is solved by a cover having the features of claim 1 and / or by a drawer side wall according to claim 9.
[0005] According to the invention, two spaced-apart, separate recesses are provided on the rear side of the outer wall of the drawer side panel. This offers stability advantages for drawer sides, which are usually made of thin sheet metal, compared to a larger, for example, elongated recess. Associated with the two spaced-apart, separate recesses, the invention includes two elastically spring-loaded, separate clamping flaps on the cover, one of which engages in each of the two recesses, thus ensuring secure positioning of the cover.
[0006] The cover according to the invention can be slid onto the drawer side panel from below, over the lower longitudinal edge of the outer wall. If the position of the clamping tabs – viewed in the longitudinal direction of the drawer – already matches the corresponding recesses, they simply snap into place, thus securing the cover to the drawer side panel in a stable and precise position, essentially clamping it in place. However, it is also possible to first attach the cover to any point on the drawer side panel (in particular, by sliding it on from below) and then move it along the drawer's longitudinal direction until the clamping tabs snap into the corresponding recesses, thus correctly positioning the cover.
[0007] The relative dimensions of the recesses and the inserting parts of the clamping flaps should be chosen so that the clamping flaps can penetrate with minimal lateral play to ensure secure engagement. However, the dimensions of the recesses should not be much larger than the inserting parts of the clamping flaps to guarantee precise positioning. The lateral play resulting from the size difference between the recesses and the inserting parts of the clamping flaps is ideally between 0.1 mm and 3 mm.
[0008] The recesses are preferably created on a folded-over section of the outer wall. There, the recesses can be designed as continuous cutouts that only penetrate the folded-over section, while the visible surface of the outer wall remains intact. Such continuous recesses can be created relatively easily using mechanical processes, such as punching. The depth of the recesses is well-defined and corresponds exactly to the material thickness (sheet thickness) of the folded-over section. Such recesses are particularly easy to create if they are essentially rectangular and open towards the long edge of the folded-over section. This simplifies the punching process. The rectangular shape also provides defined straight edges, enabling precise positioning of the cover element or the clamping tabs that engage with it.
[0009] The cover according to the invention preferably has a viewing section, preferably flat, which, when mounted, lies on the outside of the drawer and can, for example, bear a company logo or other information. This viewing section is then preferably connected, in cross-section, to a substantially U-shaped profiled connecting section at its bottom, which can be attached to the longitudinal edge of the outer wall from below. Finally, the two spring-loaded clamping flaps are preferably designed to be connected to the connecting section and run parallel to the rear of the viewing section. Such covers can be manufactured, for example, in one piece from metal or plastic. The spring-loaded design results from the material properties of the sheet metal or plastic itself.It is advantageous to attach the two spring-loaded clamping flaps at the front and rear ends of the cover, i.e., with a large distance between them, to ensure a twist-proof installation.
[0010] According to the invention, the clamping flaps have a clamping nose at their free end projecting towards the visible section of the drawer side wall, which penetrates into the recesses of the drawer side wall and holds it there in a clamping manner.

This is possible not only by sliding the cover 4 from back to front (i.e., in the extension direction of the drawer 1) but also from front to back, i.e., in the opposite direction, because the inclination of the inclined surface 17 with respect to the longitudinal direction 18 of the cover 4 is mirror-symmetrical on both clamping flaps 8a and 8b with respect to an imaginary median plane between the two clamping flaps 8a, 8b. Claims
1. Cover means (4) for a drawer side wall (2), in particular a double-walled drawer side wall, comprising an outer wall (3) which has an outwardly disposed viewing surface (3a) and a rear side (3b) facing away from the viewing surface (3a) with two spaced separate recesses (9a, 9b), wherein the cover means (4) has fixing means (8a, 8b), by means of which it can be fixed to the rear side (3b) of the outer wall (3) of the drawer side wall (2), wherein a viewing portion (4a) of the cover means (4) bears with its rearward side (13) against the outer wall (3), wherein the fixing means of the cover means (4) include two elastically resilient separate clamping lugs (8a, 8b), each of which engages into an associated recess (9a, 9b) for fixing the cover cap (4) reliably in position to the drawer side wall (2), characterized in that that in the region of its free end each clamping lug (8a, 8b) has a clamping nose (16) projecting towards the viewing portion (11), wherein each clamping nose (16) has at least two inclined surfaces (17), wherein the first of at least two inclined surfaces (17) in each case extends inclinedly relative to the side edge (14) of the cover means (4) and second of at least two inclined surfaces (17) in each case extends inclinedly relative to the longitudinal direction (18) of the cover means (4).
2. The cover means according to claim 1 characterized in that - a preferably flat viewing portion (11), - a connecting portion (12) which viewed in cross-section is of a substantially U-shaped profile and which can be fitted on to the longitudinal edge (3c) of the outer wall (3), and - two resilient clamping lugs (8a, 8b) which are connected to the connecting portion (12), and which preferably extend substantially parallel to the rearward side (13) of the viewing portion (11).
3. The cover means according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it is in one piece and preferably comprises metal or plastic.
4. The cover means according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the two resilient clamping lugs (8a, 8b) are respectively arranged in the region of a side edge (14) of the cover means (4).
5. The cover means according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the side edges (14) of the cover means (4) and the side edges (15) of the clamping lugs (8a, 8b) - preferably of a rectangular shape in a rear view - extend parallel.
6. The cover means according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that both clamping lugs (8a, 8b) are of substantially the same configuration or of the same mirror image-reversed configuration.
7. The cover means according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that one of the at least two inclined surfaces (17) extend inclinedly at an angle of 20° to 60° relative to the side edge (14) of the cover means (4).
8. The cover means according to one of claims 1 or 7, characterized in that one of the at least two inclined surface (17) extend inclinedly at an angle of 5° to 20° relative to the longitudinal direction (18) of the cover means (4).
9. A drawer side wall (2), in particular a double-walled drawer side wall, comprising an outer wall (3) which has an outwardly disposed viewing surface (3a) and a rear side (3b) facing away from the viewing surface (3a), and a cover means (4) according to one of the previous claims, wherein a viewing portion (4a) of the cover means (4) bears with its rearward side (13) against the outer wall (3), and wherein two spaced separate recesses (9a, 9b) are provided at the rear side (3b) of the outer wall (3) and the two elastically resilient separate clamping lugs (8a, 8b) each engage into an associated recess (9a, 9b) for fixing the cover cap (4) reliably in position to the drawer side wall (2).
10. The drawer side wall according to claim 9, characterized in that at its lower longitudinal edge (3c) the outer wall (3) is flanged over in a substantially U-shaped configuration, wherein the flanged-over portion (3d) bears preferably against the rearward side of the outer wall (3) provided with the viewing surface (3a) and the recesses (9a, 9b) are provided on the flanged-over portion (3d).
11. The drawer side wall according to claim 10, characterized in that the recesses (9a, 9b) are in the form of openings which pass through the flanged-over portion (3d) and which are covered by the rearward side of the outer wall (3) which is provided with the viewing surface and which is closed in that region.
12. The drawer side wall according to claim 10 or 11, characterized in that the openings extend to the longitudinal edge of the flanged-over portion (3d) of the outer wall (3) and are open towards said longitudinal edge.
13. The drawer side wall according to one of claims 9 to 12, characterized in that the two recesses (9a, 9b) are of substantially the same shape and are preferably rectangular.
