AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing light tapes with LEDs require complex programming and structural adaptations for different lengths, leading to increased manufacturing costs and inefficient switch-on durations.

Method used

A light tape design featuring a circuit element that compares voltages on two inputs to control the switch-on of LEDs or LED groups, using a reference line as a voltage divider to ensure length-dependent switch-on effects, and incorporating mass circuits with switching transistors to manage cutting areas.

Benefits of technology

The solution allows for uniform switch-on durations across light tapes of varying lengths, reducing manufacturing costs and enabling easy implementation, while maintaining desired switch-on behavior even when the light tape is cut.

Abstract

A light strip with LEDs (Lj.i) arranged along its longitudinal extent (L) and a supply voltage line (VCC) for operating the LEDs (Lj.i) with a supply voltage is proposed. It is suggested that for each LED (Lj.i), a circuit element (Sj) connected to the supply voltage line (VCC) is provided for comparing a voltage applied to a first input (1) and a voltage applied to a second input (2) of the circuit element (Sj). The circuit element (Sj) is designed to supply the corresponding LED (Lj.i) with the supply voltage depending on the difference between the voltages applied to the first input (1) and the second input (2) of the respective circuit element (Sj). The first input of each circuit element (Sj) is connected to a reference line (R) capable of carrying a DC voltage, which is configured as a voltage divider. The second input (2) is connected to a switch-on line (E) which can be supplied with a continuously increasing switch-on voltage.
