Description

[0001] The invention relates to a method for producing a component / gearbox component having a toothed profile, preferably a rack. The component is further preferably designed as a steering rod used in a motor vehicle (e.g., in a steering gear).

[0002] In general, various cold forming processes are already known in which the component to be machined is held between at least two spaced-apart components of a rolling tool and shaped according to their geometry. Examples of this are known from DE 1 237 051 A, US 716 241 A, and US 2 782 663 A. US 5 628 222 A also discloses a method for producing a component having a toothed profile and a tool device for producing a component having a toothed profile, and forms the basis for the preamble of claims 1 and 9.

[0003] However, in the processes known from the state of the art, it has been found that the tool devices used and the manufacturing processes for toothed components realized with them are relatively complex to implement.

[0004] It is therefore an object of the present invention to produce a tooth profile on a component using the simplest possible means.

[0005] This is achieved according to the invention by the subject matter of claim 1. Accordingly, a method for producing a component having a toothed profile is claimed, wherein in a first step a) a component blank is inserted into a holder of a tool device for absorbing a pressing force during a movement of a press part of the tool device in a vertical displacement direction, and in a second step b) the toothed profile is pressed into the component blank using a rotary body coupled to the press part via an articulated rod (in the sense of a connecting rod / connecting rod), wherein the rotary body is pressed in the direction of the component blank during the movement of the press part in the displacement direction and rolls along the component blank so that the toothed profile is formed.

[0006] Accordingly, the object is achieved in a tool device according to the invention by the subject matter of claim 9, wherein the claimed tool device is designed to produce a component having a toothed profile and has a vertically displaceable press part, a holder prepared to receive a component blank, a rotary body and an articulated rod coupling the rotary body to the press part, wherein the articulated rod connects the rotary body to the press part in such a way that upon vertical displacement of the press part to form the toothed profile, the rotary body is pressed in the direction of the component blank and rolls along the component blank / an outer circumference of the component blank.

[0007] By manufacturing the gear profile in this way, as few components as possible are required to complete the forming of the component. This significantly simplifies the design of the tooling fixture and also makes the manufacturing process as efficient as possible. Especially for creating different gears, preferably only the rotating body needs to be replaced.

[0008] Further advantageous embodiments are claimed in the subclaims and explained in more detail below.

[0009] Accordingly, it is also advantageous if the rotating body (preferably on its radial outer side) directly has a negative form of the tooth profile. This further simplifies the design, with the tooth profile being pressed into the component blank by directly pressing the rotating body against the component blank.

[0010] Furthermore, it is advantageous if the tooling device is implemented as a multi-stage tool / multi-stage press. This allows for particularly precise gear profiles to be produced.

[0011] If the step tool is designed in such a way that the gear profile is formed in several steps, the manufacturing efficiency is increased.

[0012] Accordingly, it is also advantageous if the gear profile is formed in several cold-forming stages, with each cold-forming stage having a rotating body coupled to the press part via a joint rod. This further increases manufacturing efficiency.

[0013] In this respect, it is also advantageous if the rotating bodies of the various cold forming stages differ in a tooth diameter and / or a tooth depth.

[0014] If the component blank is elongated, for example as a rack blank, and is inserted in the first step (with its longitudinal axis) obliquely to the vertical displacement direction of the press part, the rotating body can roll along the component blank with as little wear as possible.

[0015] It is also advantageous if the component blank (relative to its longitudinal axis) is inserted in the first step a) at an angle between 20° and 50°, preferably between 25° and 35°, approximately 30°, relative to a horizontal plane. This horizontal plane, in turn, is perpendicular to the vertical displacement direction of the press part. This results in the rotational body being mounted on the joint rod with the lowest possible wear.

[0016] It is also advantageous if the rotating body is guided in its rolling motion within a housing, which is preferably connected to a base that accommodates the holder. This provides a robust support for the rotating body.

[0017] In this regard, it is also advantageous if the rotating body is connected to the articulated rod by means of a bearing shaft and / or is guided in the housing (preferably obliquely to the vertical displacement direction of the press part).

[0018] If the rotating body, preferably implemented as a roller, has the negative shape of the tooth profile on only part of its outer circumference, it can be supported as robustly as possible.

[0019] Further preferably, the rotary body is designed to form irregular tooth profiles.

[0020] In other words, according to the invention, a cold-formed rack is preferably produced in a multi-stage tool, with the tooth profile being generated by the rolling of a forming roller (rotary body), and with the vertical movement of the press (press part) being converted into a rolling movement via a connecting rod (joint rod). Thus, there is a profile that is rolled off a roller, so that the profile is pressed into the workpiece, with the roller being moved via a type of connecting rod.

[0021] The invention will now be explained in more detail below with reference to figures.

[0022] They show: Fig. 1 is a side view of a partially illustrated tool device constructed and used according to the invention according to a preferred embodiment, wherein a rotating body used in the tool device and an articulated rod coupling this rotating body to a vertically displaceable press part are clearly visible, Fig. 2 is a perspective detailed view of the machine tool according to Fig. 1 in the area of the rotary body and a component blank to be machined with the aid of the rotary body, Fig. 3 a perspective view of a tool device according to Fig. 1 manufactured rack, and Fig. 4 a schematic flow diagram for implementing a manufacturing method according to the invention using the tool device according to Fig. 1 .

[0023] The figures are merely schematic and serve solely to clarify the invention. The same elements are designated by the same reference numerals.

[0024] With Fig. 3 1 shows a component 10 in the form of a rack, manufactured according to the method according to the invention. The component 10 is specifically implemented as a steering rod and is therefore preferably used in a steering system of a motor vehicle. In further embodiments according to the invention, however, the component 10 is also implemented as another component 10 formed with a toothed profile 5, for example, as a gear.

[0025] In the present embodiment, the finished component 10 has, due to its design as a toothed rack in a longitudinal section, a toothing profile 5 which in this Figure 3 as helical gearing. In the Figures 1 and 2the tooth profile 5, however, is shown as a straight tooth, whereby in principle a wide variety of toothings / tooth profiles 5, preferably also irregular tooth profiles 5, can be implemented by the manufacturing process described below.

[0026] With the Figs. 1 and 2 a tool device 4 designed to implement the method according to the invention is illustrated, by means of which the component 10 according to Fig. 3 The tool device 4 is designed as a multi-stage tool / multi-stage press. A production stage is Fig. 1 clearly visible.

[0027] With Fig. 1It can be seen that the tool device 4 has a base 14 that defines a horizontal plane 12 / extends in this horizontal plane 12. A press part 3 is movable relative to the base 14 in a vertical displacement direction V, i.e., perpendicular to the horizontal plane 12. By moving the press part 3, a forming force that forms the tooth profile 5 is generated / transmitted during operation of the tool device 4.

[0028] A holder 2 designed to support a pressing force transmitted by the press part 3 is accommodated on the base 14. The holder 2 is further designed such that a component blank 1 to be manufactured (here in the form of a rack blank) can be clamped to it at an angle to the displacement direction V and in Fig. 1 is already in this position. In the Fig. 1In the clamped state of the component blank 1 shown, this component blank 1 is clamped / inserted at an angle 11 of 30° relative to its longitudinal axis 15 relative to the horizontal plane 12.

[0029] For cold-forming the tooth profile 5, a roller-shaped rotating body 7 is provided, which has a negative mold 6 of the tooth profile 5. The rotating body 7 is rotatably mounted on one end of a connecting rod-like joint 8. The connecting rod 8 serves to couple the movement of the rotating body 7 to the press part 3. Accordingly, the end of the connecting rod 8 facing away from the rotating body 7 is rotatably mounted on the press part 3.

[0030] Furthermore, the rotation body 7 is guided along a longitudinal axis 15 of the clamped component blank 1 in a housing 9 of the tool device 4. As described in this regard in Fig. 2As can be seen, for example, the rotating body 7 is mounted on a bearing shaft 13. This bearing shaft 13 is guided in the housing 9 with its portions protruding from the rotating body 7 and is also mounted on the joint rod 8.

[0031] It has proven particularly advantageous if the joint rod 8 is designed with two arms and one arm is mounted on the bearing shaft 13 on each side of the rotating body 7.

[0032] According to the invention, the rotating body 7 is thus received on the press part 3 via the articulated rod 8 in such a way that, during a vertical displacement movement of the press part 3 (movement along the displacement direction V), the rotating body 7 with its negative mold 6 (also referred to as a negative profile) is directly pressed onto / pressed into the component blank 1, thus cold-forming the toothed profile 5. At the same time, the rotating body 7 rolls along the component blank 1 during the movement of the press part 3 along the displacement direction V.

[0033] With Fig. 4A method according to the invention is schematically illustrated. In a first step a), the component blank 1 is clamped / inserted into the holder 2. Subsequently, in a second step b), the tooth profile 5 is formed in the manner already described. Accordingly, the tooth profile 5 is formed by displacing the press part 3 toward the component blank 1 and thus by pressing the rotating body 7 into the component blank 1.

[0034] In this context, it should be noted that the tooth profile 5 is preferably formed in several individual manufacturing stages / cold forming stages. In this case, preferably at several (behind or in front of the drawing plane of the Figure 1located) stations / cold forming stages, differently dimensioned rotating bodies 7 are used, which in turn are connected to the press part 3 via a corresponding articulated rod 8. The rotating bodies 7 differ in particular in their toothing diameter or their toothing depth of their negative mold 6. Consequently, the toothing profile 5 is preferably produced with a first depth in a first sub-step and in at least one further, second step the toothing profile 5 is further formed / produced with a second depth. Accordingly, any number of cold forming stages can be realized until finally the component 10 after Fig. 3 is completed and is removed from the tool device 4 in a step c). List of reference symbols
