Description

[0001] Barrier housing and column for a barrier

[0002] Description

[0003] The invention relates to a barrier housing with at least one motor-driven barrier boom according to the preamble of claim 1, a support column with such a barrier housing according to the preamble of claim 14 and a barrier with such a support column and such a barrier housing.

[0004] The barrier housing is therefore intended as a housing for a column that supports at least one barrier boom and includes its drive mechanism. The barrier housing has at least one passage for a shaft of the drive mechanism, on which the barrier boom sits. The barrier housing also has mounting points for attachments.

[0005] The column that holds and moves the barrier boom comprises a barrier housing, a drive device for at least one barrier boom, at least one shaft for the barrier boom mounted within the barrier housing or on the barrier housing, at least one passage for the shaft provided in a housing wall of the barrier housing, and mounting points for attachments provided on the barrier housing.

[0006] The drive device is particularly designed as an electromechanical drive device; however, it can also be hydraulic, electrohydraulic, pneumatic, or other power device. Within the scope of the invention, "motor-driven barrier boom" means that the barrier boom is moved directly—or indirectly via a gear—by a power device that performs mechanical work by converting a form of energy into kinetic energy. This form of energy is not specified and can be, for example, thermal, chemical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical energy.

[0007] Barriers with such columns and barrier housings have long been widely used to control the passage of vehicles in managed parking lots, multi-storey car parks, toll booths, and areas that are intended to be accessible only to authorized users. In addition to the actual barrier boom, additional components are often required to be attached to the column or barrier housing, such as one or more key switches, a light barrier, a laser scanner, cameras for recognizing vehicle license plates, lighting elements, rods and masts for attaching traffic lights and other signaling elements, or even pivot points for barrier gates and push rods for pivoting barrier booms.

[0008] For such add-on parts, holes for attaching brackets and for cabling as well as cutouts, if necessary, must be made in the barrier housing.

[0009] Sometimes it is important for add-on components to be attached to the barrier housing, such as a safety light barrier or a camera for recognizing vehicle license plates. This specific height is usually not related to the barrier housing, but to the roadway height of the barrier passage. If the pillar or barrier housing has to be placed on a base due to on-site conditions, for example, it may be necessary to remove the height-critical add-on components that were already attached to the barrier housing at the factory when the barrier is installed and then reattach them to the barrier housing in a different position. It is obvious that this is not only time-consuming but also impairs the visual appearance of the converted barrier housing. The same applies if add-on components are to be removed because they are no longer required.Often, even with a barrier, the barrier boom needs to be converted from the right to the left side, or vice versa, on-site. In this case, it's necessary to relocate the factory-installed attachments to the other side.

[0010] Finally, when retrofitting add-on parts to the barrier housing, or when installing additional add-on parts on a barrier that is already in operation, it is difficult on site to drill the holes in the barrier housing required for the cabling so precisely that the cabling is concealed by the add-on part in a way that prevents tampering.

[0011] The invention is therefore based on the object of modifying a barrier housing or a stand column with a barrier housing of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the problems with add-on parts outlined above can be avoided.

[0012] This object is achieved by a barrier housing having the features of claim 1 and by a column having the features of claims 14 and 15, and also by a barrier having the features of claim 16. Preferred embodiments and further developments of the barrier housing according to the invention can be found in claims 2 to 13.

[0013] A barrier housing according to the present invention, which is intended for a barrier with at least one motor-driven barrier boom and serves as the housing of a pillar that holds at least one barrier boom and comprises its drive device, has, as described above, a passage for a shaft of the drive device, on which the barrier boom sits, as well as mounting points provided on the barrier housing for add-on parts. According to the invention, in this barrier housing, at least some of the mounting points are designed as a mounting groove with at least one inner clamping element that can be displaced therein in the manner of a sliding block. A cover is provided for the mounting groove, which cover can be inserted into the mounting groove, in particular pushed in, or placed onto it.

[0014] The support column according to the invention, which is also intended for a barrier with at least one motor-driven barrier boom and holds and moves at least one barrier boom, comprises a barrier housing, a drive device for at least one barrier boom, at least one shaft for the barrier boom mounted within the barrier housing or on the barrier housing, at least one passage for the shaft provided in a housing wall of the barrier housing, and mounting points for add-on parts provided on the barrier housing. The support column is also characterized according to the invention in that at least some of the mounting points on the barrier housing are designed as a mounting groove with at least one inner clamping element that can be moved therein in the manner of a sliding block. Here, too, a cover is provided for the mounting groove, which cover can be inserted into the mounting groove, in particular pushed in, or placed onto the mounting groove.

[0015] The inner clamping element, which can be moved within the mounting groove, is used to attach add-on parts to the barrier housing which are not located at a fixed mounting location at the factory, but can be mounted on site at various points in the mounting groove, adapted to the circumstances, by moving the inner clamping element in the mounting groove.

[0016] Due to the cover of the mounting groove provided according to the invention, it is not immediately apparent that a mounting groove is present; rather, the cover transforms the mounting groove into a design element whose technical function is visually subdued.

[0017] If attachments on the barrier housing need to be relocated on-site, for example, to adjust the height of the attachment to the on-site conditions, it is particularly advantageous that, within the scope of the present invention, cabling, i.e., electrical power supply lines and signal lines that lead from the interior of the barrier housing to the attachment and therefore require a hole or feedthrough in the barrier housing, do not need to be relocated. This is because the cover of the mounting groove covers the cabling in a tamper-proof manner, even if it does not exit directly from the wall of the barrier housing at the attachment, but rather runs partially within the mounting groove.

[0018] The tamper-proof and visually flawless routing of the cabling of attachments within the mounting groove according to the invention, along with the flexibility and adjustability of the position of attachments, is the major advantage of the present invention. Another advantage is that the necessary relocation or removal of an attachment on site can be carried out without being subsequently visible; unsightly covering of drill holes and feedthroughs that are no longer needed is eliminated.

[0019] Preferably, the barrier housing according to the invention is essentially cuboid-shaped with four vertically extending edges; this corresponds to the usual shape of a barrier housing. The mounting grooves according to the invention can then preferably be arranged in the edges – or at least one mounting groove in at least one edge – whereby at least those edges of the barrier housing that are provided with a mounting groove are preferably chamfered and the mounting groove is arranged in the chamfer. This offers advantages for the construction of the barrier housing, and the mounting groove is perceived merely as a design element, especially since it is provided with a cover according to the invention that expediently covers the entire width of the chamfer. The mounting groove itself can also essentially cover the entire width of the chamfer, which enables a particularly stable construction of both the barrier housing and the inner clamping element in the mounting groove.

[0020] The mounting groove according to the invention is preferably provided with two clamping webs which, viewed in cross-section, extend laterally into the mounting groove on both sides of the mounting groove, thereby forming an inner clamping surface and preferably also an outer clamping surface. In this way, an inner clamping element and an outer clamping element can clamp the clamping webs between them, thereby forming a force-locking connection with the mounting groove when an outer clamping element, for example as a component of an attachment or a holder for such an attachment, is placed onto the mounting groove from the outside and connected to the inner clamping element, for example by means of a screw connection.

[0021] In this case, the clamping webs can, in cooperation with a groove bottom of the mounting groove, form a groove cavity for receiving the inner clamping element, preferably in such a way that the inner clamping element fills the cross-section of the groove cavity as completely as possible in order to ensure the most stable fastening of add-on parts.

[0022] It is particularly preferred if the clamping webs, on their side opposite the groove cavity, are part of a guide groove for inserting or inserting the cover according to the invention. This makes it possible, for example, to clamp the cover between the inner clamping element and an outer clamping element and thus secure it in a tamper-proof manner.

[0023] It is particularly advantageous if at least one inner clamping element is provided with at least one threaded pin in order to press against the groove bottom of the mounting groove and thus fix the inner clamping element in the mounting groove without the need for clamping with an outer clamping element.

[0024] As already mentioned, within the scope of the present invention, it can be provided that the inner clamping element, which sits in the mounting groove, can be connected to an outer clamping element of an attachment in order to fix the two clamping elements to the mounting groove and preferably also to clamp the cover between the inner and outer clamping elements. Clamping the cover can also function without the inner and outer clamping elements forming a clamp for fixing it in the mounting groove.

[0025] As a further preferred embodiment of the present invention, the cover can be made of a transparent and / or translucent material and / or a material made translucent by means of holes and cutouts, preferably combined with lighting arranged in the mounting groove. This makes it possible to design the mounting groove according to the invention even more clearly as a design element. Furthermore, the mounting groove offers a very simple way of attaching signaling via light signals to the barrier housing; such a mounting groove is ideal for accommodating lighting and accommodating their wiring invisibly and tamper-proof.

[0026] As already mentioned at the beginning, attachments such as light barriers, laser scanners, cameras, lighting elements, rods and masts for attaching traffic lights and similar signaling elements, key switches, safety light barriers, barrier grilles, and articulated boom push rods can be attached to the mounting groove according to the invention. These attachments can be mounted in the mounting groove according to the invention using the inner and outer clamping elements. These attachments can also expediently be provided with integrated or permanently mounted outer clamping elements to enable them to be easily attached to the inner clamping elements in the mounting groove according to the invention.

[0027] Finally, the mounting groove according to the invention can be provided, particularly in its groove base, with feedthroughs, for example feedthroughs prepared in a grid, for electrical and electronic power supply and signal lines. As already explained, due to the inventive covering of the mounting groove, it is not critical if such power supply and signal lines have to bridge a certain distance within the mounting groove between the feedthrough in the barrier housing and the attachment. Several exemplary embodiments of a barrier according to the invention and a barrier housing designed according to the invention are described and explained in more detail below with reference to the attached schematic drawings. These are merely examples that are not to be understood as limiting the invention; nevertheless, the drawings and the following description may contain features essential to the invention.

[0028] They show:

[0029] Figure 1 shows a barrier with a barrier housing designed according to the invention, in a schematic isometric view;

[0030] Figure 2 shows the barrier housing from Figure 1, with the cover removed;

[0031] Figure 3 shows the barrier housing as in Figure 2, but in an isometric view from above;

[0032] Figure 4 shows a detail from Figure 3;

[0033] Figure 5 shows the detail from Figure 4 in plan view;

[0034] Figure 6 shows a further embodiment of a barrier with a barrier housing according to the invention;

[0035] Figure 7 shows a further embodiment of a barrier with a barrier housing according to the invention;

[0036] Figure 8 shows part of a further embodiment of a barrier housing designed according to the invention;

[0037] Figure 9 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a barrier housing according to the invention, in a schematic side view. Figure 1 shows a first exemplary embodiment of a barrier with a motor-driven barrier boom 1. The barrier boom 1 is mounted on a support column 2, which holds it by means of a shaft 3 and pivots it up or down as required. The support column 2 also includes a barrier housing 4, to which a light barrier 5 is attached. Finally, a counter bearing 6 for the shaft 3 on the barrier housing 4 is visible.

[0038] The barrier housing 4 essentially consists of four side walls 7 and a cover 8; its cross-section is essentially rectangular, following the cuboid shape of the support column 2. The cabinet housing 4 is chamfered at the four corners of this rectangle, or at the four vertical edges of the cuboid support column 2; the light barrier 5 is located in one of the four chamfers 9.

[0039] According to the present invention, the cabinet housing 4 is provided with a mounting groove 10 (visible in Figure 3) on each of its bevels 9, which in turn are closed with covers 11. Accordingly, the mounting grooves 10 are not accessible from the outside and consequently not visible in Figure 1; the bevels 9 create the impression of design elements.

[0040] Figure 2 shows the cabinet housing 4 from Figure 1 with the cover 8 removed. This shows that the covers 11 can simply be pushed into the mounting grooves 10 from above to cover the mounting grooves 10. At the point where the light barrier 5 is located, the cover 11 is interrupted; the light barrier 5 is therefore located in a gap between two parts of the cover 11. This gap in the cover 11 can easily be created on-site by pulling the cover 11 upwards out of the mounting groove 10 and then cutting it to the desired length with a cutting tool to secure the light barrier 5 in the mounting groove 10. Figure 3 shows the barrier housing 4 in a view similar to Figure 2, but seen more from above, so that essential elements of the invention can be better illustrated using this exemplary embodiment:

[0041] The barrier housing 4, which here – without the cover 8 – essentially consists only of four side walls 7, has a bevel 9 on each of its vertical edges. Mounting grooves 10 formed by extruded aluminum profiles are arranged in these bevels 9, completely spanning the bevel 9 in each case.

[0042] The mounting groove 10 in which the light barrier 5 is mounted is shown in Figure 3 without a cover 11. The other three mounting grooves 10 are each covered with a cover 11, making them inaccessible from the outside (see Figures 1 and 2). The covers 11 can also serve as design elements, for example, by being provided with different colors like the side walls 7, or by being made of translucent material, being illuminated, and the like.

[0043] The mounting groove 10 with light barrier 5 located at the bottom right in Figure 3 is shown enlarged in Figure 4. The special features and characteristics of this embodiment for a barrier housing 4 designed according to the invention are thus more clearly visible:

[0044] The mounting groove 10 has a groove base 13 and two clamping webs 14, which together with the groove base 13 form a groove cavity 15. This groove cavity 15 serves to accommodate an inner clamping element 16, which can be displaced vertically in the mounting groove 10, but is held in a form-fitting manner in the horizontal direction in the mounting groove 10 or in the groove cavity 15.

[0045] The clamping webs 14 extend laterally into the mounting groove 10 in cross-section, thereby forming an inner clamping surface 17 and an outer clamping surface 18. The light barrier 5 sits on a bracket 19, which in turn has an outer clamping element 20 for fastening to the mounting groove 10. This outer clamping element 20 can be connected to the inner clamping element 16 via at least one first threaded pin (not visible here) or, for example, by means of countersunk screws. When this first threaded pin is tightened, it pulls the inner clamping element 16 against the inner clamping surfaces 17 of the clamping webs 14, and due to the resulting counterforce, also pulls the outer clamping element 20 against the outer clamping surfaces 18 of the clamping webs 14.In this way, the clamping bars 14 are clamped by the inner and outer clamping elements 16, 20, resulting in a firm, force-locking connection by means of which the light barrier 5 is attached to the barrier housing 4. It is obvious that this attachment of the light barrier 5 can be made along the mounting groove 10 at any desired height; even a subsequent correction of the mounting position in the vertical direction can be made at any time.

[0046] On the outer sides of the clamping bars 14, i.e., the outer clamping surfaces 18, the mounting groove 10 continues into a guide groove 21 into which the cover 11 (not shown here) can be inserted. This is then held in the mounting groove 10 with a positive fit, except in the vertical direction.

[0047] As shown in Figure 2, the cover 11 can end above and below the light barrier 5 and abut the outer clamping element 20. If the assembly is carried out as shown in Figure 4, this is the method of choice.

[0048] Another variant is shown in Figure 5, a detailed illustration like Figure 4, but in a top view. As can be seen there, the outer clamping element 20 does not sit directly on the outer clamping surfaces 18 of the clamping webs 14, but is placed on the cover 11 located in the guide groove 21. As in the variant shown in Figure 4, the outer clamping element 20 is connected to the inner clamping element 16 with a first threaded pin 22, whereby the first threaded pin 22 pulls the inner clamping element 16 against the inner clamping surfaces 17 of the clamping webs 14 and holds it there with a force fit. With the counterforce, the first threaded pin 22 pulls the outer clamping element 20 against the cover 11 and this then against the outer clamping surfaces 18 of the clamping webs 14, i.e. the cover 11 is clamped between the inner and outer clamping elements 16, 20.

[0049] Finally, Figure 5 shows that the inner clamping element 16 has a second threaded pin 23, which presses against the groove bottom 13 of the mounting groove 10 and, pressing against the inner clamping surfaces 17 of the clamping webs 14, secures the inner clamping element 16 in the groove cavity 15 of the mounting groove 10. This can significantly simplify the assembly of the outer clamping element 20 and the associated attachment, here the light barrier 5, for example because an outer clamping element is no longer absolutely necessary, but the attachment or its holder 19 can simply be attached to the fixed inner clamping element 16.

[0050] Figures 6 to 9 show other embodiments of barriers with barrier housings 4 designed according to the invention. The barrier housing 4 is designed in the same way as the barrier housing 4 shown in Figures 1 to 5 - with the exception of the attachments.

[0051] While the embodiment according to Figures 1 to 5 has a light barrier 5 as an add-on part fastened in one of the mounting grooves 10, the add-on part fastened in the mounting groove 10 in Figure 6 is a pivot point 24 for a barrier grille 25, and in Figure 7 this is a pivot point 24 or a bearing for a push rod 26 of an articulated boom 27, for example for use in parking garages with low ceilings. In Figure 8, the add-on parts located in a mounting groove 10 of the barrier housing 4 are three key switches 28, while the barrier housing 4 shown in Figure 9 is provided with a traffic light system 29, which, together with a siren 30, is fastened to one of the mounting grooves 10 of the barrier housing 4 via a mast 31. As is clear from these embodiments, the present invention makes it possible to attach various add-on parts to a barrier housing without having to provide numerous holes there.At the same time, flexibility in the height of the attachments is also provided when installing the barrier on site, and common design elements are now also used functionally.
