Description

[0001] The invention relates to an outer cladding element for a track-guided vehicle for passenger transport, comprising a supporting structure and at least one cladding body supported by the supporting structure.

[0002] Furthermore, the invention relates to a track-guided vehicle comprising at least one such outer cladding element or one further developed as described below.

[0003] Document GB 355 614 A describes the so-called Kruckenberg train. This was an experimental rail vehicle from the 1930s. The Kruckenberg train was powered by an internal combustion engine driving a propeller. Instead of a metal car body with a roof, the Kruckenberg train had a tent-like structure made of struts covered with linen. Document GB 355 614 A does not mention any external cladding element that would further cover the exterior of the rail-guided vehicle. Furthermore, the linen covering is not a membrane.

[0004] Document GB 287 174 A discloses a rail zeppelin from the 1920s. It features an internal combustion engine driving a propeller. Instead of a car body, a zeppelin-like structure of struts and rigid panels is revealed, forming the interior of the rail zeppelin. Document GB 287 174 A explicitly states that flexible fabric coverings are not used, as these generate unwanted vibrations during operation. An external cladding element, which would further cover the exterior of the rail-guided vehicle, is not mentioned in document GB 287 174 A. Furthermore, no membrane is disclosed.

[0005] Document DE 2018 114 245 A1 discloses an external cladding for a rail vehicle. This is a cover for a central buffer coupler. The cover has a fiber-reinforced membrane which is not flexible but retains its shape under wind load and can only be elastically deformed with additional actuators.

[0006] Modern track-guided vehicles, such as rail vehicles, especially in passenger transport, are equipped with a multitude of components (e.g., air conditioning, other cooling systems, power converters, rheostatic brakes, water tanks, compressors). These components are usually installed in the roof or underfloor area. Since they are exposed to the elements (sun, rain, snow), they must be protected by cladding and enclosures. Due to the varying shapes and sizes of these components, the roof and underfloor areas are inconsistent, resulting in obvious aerodynamic disadvantages in terms of drag and crosswind stability.

[0007] To compensate for the aerodynamic disadvantages of an inconsistent roof or underbody surface, skirts, covers, and cladding, e.g., made of sheet metal or plastic, are commonly used. However, these components require complex design and manufacturing processes and must adhere to precise production tolerances.

[0008] Based on this, the invention aims to provide an outer cladding element that offers simplified cladding for different components of a track-guided vehicle.

[0009] This problem is solved by the outer cladding element of claim 1 and the track-guided vehicle of claim 11.

[0010] Advantageous designs and further developments are the subject of the respective sub-claims.

[0011] According to the invention, an outer cladding element is provided for a track-guided vehicle for passenger transport. The outer cladding element comprises a supporting structure and at least one cladding body supported by the supporting structure, wherein the cladding body is designed as a flexible membrane.

[0012] According to the invention, a track-guided vehicle for passenger transport is further provided, comprising at least one such or, as described below, further developed outer cladding element.

[0013] The enclosing body is a body that encloses the supporting structure.

[0014] The outer shell is designed as a flexible membrane. This membrane can be, for example, a tarpaulin or film, preferably made of plastic. However, it is also possible to use a textile membrane or a composite material.

[0015] The membrane largely shields the cavity beneath the outer shell from external influences. In addition to improved aerodynamics, it reduces the ingress of particles, rain, or snow.

[0016] A particular advantage is that the enclosing body improves the aerodynamic properties of the track-guided vehicle.

[0017] Another advantage is that the shell can replace existing external fairings (e.g., sheet metal hoods, skirts) of a track-guided vehicle. By eliminating or simplifying fairing components and covers, design and manufacturing are simplified, and weight can be reduced.

[0018] Furthermore, this concept according to the invention fulfills all the requirements placed on a technical concept suitable for retrofitting existing track-guided vehicles. The inventive covering or overlay with a membrane can, firstly, be individually adapted to the specific geometric conditions. Secondly, it meets the requirements of lightweight construction and increases the overall weight of a track-guided vehicle only negligibly.

[0019] The solution according to the invention creates an aerodynamically improved outer contour of the outer cladding element for a track-guided passenger transport vehicle. This leads to a reduction in driving resistance and energy consumption. Furthermore, a vehicle according to the invention exhibits improved crosswind stability.

[0020] The track-guided vehicle is, for example, a rail vehicle or a magnetic levitation train, preferably for passenger transport.

[0021] Such vehicles suitable for passenger transport are specifically adapted to transporting large numbers of people.

[0022] The track-guided vehicle preferably has at least one electric drive motor.

[0023] Preferably, the track-guided vehicle is designed as a rail vehicle with distributed traction.

[0024] Furthermore, the rail vehicle is preferably designed as an electric multiple unit.

[0025] Furthermore, the track-guided vehicle preferably has one or more components from the group of the following components, preferably on the roof: air conditioning, power converter, transformer, auxiliary power converter (HBU), pantograph, compressor, cooling systems, H2 tanks, fuel cells, battery, braking resistor.

[0026] Preferably, the outer cladding element has an arched or roof-shaped cross-section.

[0027] The arc-shaped or roof-shaped cross-section refers to a cross-section in the transverse direction of the track-guided vehicle.

[0028] Arched or roof-shaped means that there is a cavity under the outer cladding element, formed by an arch or a roof.

[0029] Preferably, a rectangular cross-section is formed, with trapezoidally beveled or arcuately rounded side roof edges.

[0030] The supporting structure is designed accordingly to create the arched or roof-shaped cross-section of the outer cladding element.

[0031] In the design of the outer cladding element, it can be provided that the cladding body is detachably connected to the supporting structure, preferably in segments.

[0032] This ensures that the outer cladding element can be opened and closed by allowing the outer shell to be detached from the supporting structure. In the open position, the outer shell is detached from the supporting structure. In the closed position, the outer shell is connected to the supporting structure.

[0033] It is possible that the encapsulation body is designed to be detachable from the supporting structure in segments, so that only a part of the encapsulation body can be detached from the supporting structure and / or folded back.

[0034] The segmented opening mechanism allows easier access to the underlying components, thus simplifying maintenance. The housing can be opened only in the necessary areas, resulting in easier handling compared to conventional covers / lids, etc. Furthermore, this design facilitates simpler replacement of the housing segment in case of a defect.

[0035] In a further development of the outer cladding element, it can also be provided that the cladding body has at least one opening, preferably with a collar and / or attachment being inserted into the at least one opening.

[0036] This provides a design for the outer cladding element that makes it possible to create air circulation at defined openings.

[0037] Furthermore, this improves air circulation.

[0038] Furthermore, in the embodiment of the outer cladding element it can be provided that the outer cladding element has at least one clamping device designed for clamping the cladding body, wherein the clamping device preferably has two redundant holding devices.

[0039] This specifies a device that makes it possible to prestress and attach the encapsulation body to the supporting structure.

[0040] As an alternative to providing a tensioning device, the casing body can have eyelets which are tensioned with ropes or other fastening devices.

[0041] The outer cladding element can further provide that the supporting structure has a plurality of bows, which are preferably connected to each other by webs.

[0042] The ribs extend in a frame-like manner and / or form an arched or roof-shaped cross-section.

[0043] The supporting structure is preferably made of tubes or profiles, which are preferably connected to each other as a metal structure. Webs are formed between the individual ribs to connect them. The supporting structure may also additionally include crossbeams located between the webs.

[0044] The shape of the envelope is defined by the ribs, webs, and crossbeams, which mechanically stabilize the envelope. The envelope is stretched across the supporting structure.

[0045] It is possible that tolerances can be compensated for through elastic properties of the enclosing body.

[0046] In a further development of the outer cladding element, it may also be provided that the cladding body has a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface has different properties than the second surface.

[0047] For example, the first surface can be designed to have a different color than the second surface. This ensures that, for instance, a different surface color is visible on the outside depending on the season.

[0048] For example, it may be intended that the first surface is white and the second surface is black, so that it can be reversed seasonally.

[0049] Furthermore, it may be provided that the first surface and the second surface are coated and / or structured differently, so that, for example, the first surface is designed in such a way as to specifically prevent these particle adhesions, whereas the second surface is designed in such a way as to specifically prevent water or ice adhesions.

[0050] Furthermore, in the design of the outer cladding element, it can be provided that in a cross-section of the cladding body, the first surface and the second surface are arranged on opposite sides of the cladding body. This makes it possible for a single cladding body to have two differently textured surface sides, whereby, by turning the outer cladding element over, it exhibits different surface properties on one of the outward-facing surfaces.

[0051] In further developments of the outer cladding element, it may be provided that the cladding body is designed in such a way that either the first surface or the second surface is in contact with the supporting structure.

[0052] This provides a shell that can be turned over. Either the first surface or the second surface can be placed on the supporting structure to be in contact with it.

[0053] Furthermore, the design of the outer cladding element may include the provision that the casing is made of an electrically insulating material or a specifically conductive material.

[0054] This ensures that the casing protects underlying components from electric shocks (e.g. from lightning strikes or overhead line breakage) by means of an electrically insulating material or an electrically conductive material, preferably specifically electrically conductive material with grounding points in certain areas.

[0055] Furthermore, the design of the track-guided vehicle may include a roof, with at least one outer cladding element arranged on the roof, and the supporting structure being connected to the roof of the track-guided vehicle.

[0056] This ensures that the roof of the track-guided vehicle is covered by the outer cladding element.

[0057] In further developments of the track-guided vehicle, it may also be provided that at least one component designed as a roof structure is arranged on the roof of the rail vehicle, wherein the at least one component is covered by the outer cladding element.

[0058] The outer cladding element protects the components from environmental influences (particles, water, snow, sun) and also protects the components from electric shocks from the overhead line and lightning strikes.

[0059] The track-guided vehicle may be provided with one or more components from the group of the following components, preferably on the roof, which are covered by the outer fairing element: air conditioning, power converter, transformer, auxiliary power converter (HBU), compressor, cooling systems, H2 tanks, fuel cells, battery, braking resistor.

[0060] Furthermore, at least one component designed as a roof structure is aerodynamically clad by the outer cladding element, resulting in lower wind loads.

[0061] Furthermore, external tolerances of the roof container and the components relative to each other are compensated for by the outer shell in relation to the vehicle.

[0062] Furthermore, the track-guided vehicle may provide that at least one component has at least one air inlet and / or air outlet and that at least one opening of the outer fairing element is assigned to the air inlet and / or air outlet.

[0063] This ensures that both the at least one air inlet and / or air outlet and the at least one opening are arranged in such a way that an airflow through the at least one opening of the outer cladding element is not obstructed.

[0064] Furthermore, the design of the track-guided vehicle may include the arrangement of multiple exterior cladding elements in modules.

[0065] Preferably, the majority of the exterior cladding elements are arranged one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the track-guided vehicle.

[0066] If several outer cladding elements are formed, these are preferably connected to each other and the outer shells of the individual outer cladding elements can also be connected to each other.

[0067] Furthermore, it may be provided that the individual exterior cladding elements or their respective supporting structures are connected to each other by connectors, which connect the outer contour formed by the individual exterior cladding elements.

[0068] This allows larger areas of the track-guided vehicle or car body to be clad modularly with a multiple set of exterior cladding elements. In this way, it is possible to clad larger areas completely.

[0069] In its design, it may be provided that the majority of the exterior cladding elements are constructed in different modules to adapt to the components lying under the exterior cladding element, which are designed as a roof structure.

[0070] This makes it possible to achieve a certain degree of prefabrication while simultaneously allowing for flexible design.

[0071] In a further development of the track-guided vehicle, it may also be provided that the track-guided vehicle has at least one car body, preferably a plurality of car bodies, and that the at least outer cladding element essentially covers at least 25%, preferably at least 50% of a roof length of the car body.

[0072] This ensures that a large part of at least one car body is completely covered.

[0073] It may also be provided that at least one outer cladding element connects to one or more fixed roof cladding elements and that the cross-sectional shape of the fixed roof cladding element is continued by the outer cladding element.

[0074] This ensures that the exterior cladding element fits snugly against fixed roof cladding elements, so that the roof contour has a visually closed appearance thanks to the exterior cladding element.

[0075] In one embodiment, it may be provided that at least one fixed roof cladding element is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the track-guided vehicle in front of the outer cladding element, and at least one fixed roof cladding element is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the track-guided vehicle behind the outer cladding element. It may also be provided that at least one fixed roof cladding element is arranged between two outer cladding elements.

[0076] This ensures that the airflow penetrates under at least one outer paneling element.

[0077] The at least one fixed roof cladding element is preferably designed in such a way that it covers the entire cross-section of the shell body.

[0078] The at least one fixed roof cladding element can be designed as sheet metal elements or as skirts.

[0079] Furthermore, a fixed roof cladding element made of sheet metal can be designed as a finishing element at the rear of the track-guided vehicle. It can also be provided that the at least one fixed roof cladding element is directly connected to the last roof container of a car of a track-guided vehicle. The outer shell is preferably attached to the at least one fixed roof cladding element to prevent air ingress.

[0080] This has not only aesthetic advantages, but also technical advantages, such as the aforementioned cladding of the underlying components.

[0081] Further development of the track-guided vehicle may also provide that at least one outer fairing element is an element that improves the aerodynamics of the track-guided vehicle.

[0082] In addition to the aforementioned cladding of the components by the outer fairing element and the associated improved aerodynamics of the track-guided vehicle, it is possible that the outer fairing element has a geometry and / or surface structure that improves the aerodynamics of the track-guided vehicle.

[0083] It may also be provided that the material of the enclosing body can change the state from rigid to flexible, e.g. by pneumatically inflating a chamber structure.

[0084] Chemical curing may also be used. (Inflating and curing is more of a change from flexible to rigid; curing is probably irreversible.)

[0085] In one embodiment, the material of the enclosing body can be designed such that, due to its flexible construction, it allows vibrations during the movement of the rail-guided vehicle. This results in additional dynamic vibrations of the enclosing body caused by the operation of the rail vehicle, which in turn cause particles, water droplets, or ice crystals that have settled on the membrane to detach. This prevents the permanent adhesion of particles, water droplets, or ice crystals to the membrane.

[0086] To reinforce the outer shell, at least one stiffening element can be incorporated into the flexible membrane. Such a stiffening element can be designed as a batten. The stiffening element can reinforce the outer shell at the distance between it and the underlying supporting structure. This increases the stiffness and stability of the outer shell while still allowing it to be opened segment by segment. The stiffening elements can be arranged longitudinally and / or transversely along the track-guided vehicle. The stiffening elements are arranged to accommodate the segmented opening of the outer shell.

[0087] Furthermore, it may be provided that part of the roof of the track-guided vehicle is designed to be walkable.

[0088] To improve the accessibility of the roof of the track-guided vehicle, it may be provided that the shell itself or the supporting structure is reinforced accordingly in sections.

[0089] Furthermore, it may be provided that the struts, ribs, crossbeams, and connectors are also designed to be foldable or easily detachable, so that after loosening or folding down the shell body, they can simply be folded away, thus providing access to the components and the roof.

[0090] In its design, the outer cladding element is intended as a retrofit component that can be mounted on existing track-guided vehicles.

[0091] Finally, it should be mentioned that known solutions, such as tarpaulins for the transport of bulk goods in freight wagons or tarpaulins for trucks, cannot be compared with the solution according to the invention, since according to the invention an outer cladding element is provided that forms an independent component that can also be subsequently added to a track-guided vehicle.
