Description

[0001] The invention relates to a drainage channel for draining surface water. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for cleaning a drainage channel.

[0002] Drainage channels are subject to the problem that various contaminants can accumulate in them over time. To prevent the ingress of larger dirt particles, especially leaves, drainage channels are equipped with gutter covers, which often prevent these larger contaminants from easily entering the channel. However, the surface water discharged into the drainage channel also carries finer particles and smaller leaves into the drainage channel, which can settle, particularly in the gutter bottom. These deposits, which continue to increase over time, impair the ability of the drainage channel to drain incoming surface water as quickly as possible, until the channel eventually becomes completely blocked. In order to fully restore the function of the drainage channel, cleaning is usually necessary, which, depending on the type of channel, cannot be carried out without considerable effort.

[0003] Based on this problem, the invention described here has the task of providing a drainage channel which enables simple and automatic cleaning of the drainage channel with the surface water introduced into the drainage channel.

[0004] This object is achieved by a drainage channel having the features of the applicable claim 1 and by the features of the independent method claim 25. Advantageous embodiments of the invention can be found in the dependent claims.

[0005] The invention relates to a drainage channel for draining surface water. The drainage channel comprises at least two channel sections for collecting surface water. A channel section is composed of at least one channel base, an opening located opposite this channel base, and a channel cover associated with the opening of the channel sections for introducing surface water into the channel section. The channel base can be flat or curved, in particular semicircular. Furthermore, the channel sections can have side walls, which preferably form a U-shape with the channel base. The channel cover can have inlet openings in the full nominal channel width or channel width.

[0006] To achieve this objective, the invention provides for a closure element to be arranged in a passage opening located between the channel sections. The closure element preferably has the same dimensions as the channel sections. This closure element divides the at least two channel sections into at least one storage space and at least one collection space. The closure element itself is designed such that any water introduced into the channel section serving as a storage space can be dammed upstream of the closure element in this channel section defined as a storage space. To ensure that a certain amount of accumulating surface water is always directed into the channel section designed as a reservoir to retain the surface water, the channel cover and the channel sections, in particular the at least one collecting chamber, each have drainage elements for selectively draining surface water into the channel sections. Thus, depending on the amount of precipitation to be drained, a specific portion of surface water can always be directed specifically into the respective channel sections.

[0007] If the storage space is filled with surface water up to a certain storage volume or if a certain back pressure builds up at the closure element, the closure element is equipped with means for automatic opening according to the invention, so that the water previously accumulated in the storage space of the drainage channel can be drained through the now opened passage opening into the channel section behind it, in particular the collection space. This surge of water passing through the channel section behind it, in particular the collection space, can entrain deposits, dirt, or other contaminants in the drainage channel and flush them out of the drainage channel.

[0008] In a drainage channel with more than two channel sections, the invention further offers the advantage that multiple storage spaces are created by arranging several closure elements in series. When the first closure element opens the first storage space because it has reached a certain storage volume or a certain back pressure, the additional closure elements of the other storage spaces open in a cascade-like manner after the previously accumulated water enters the next storage space, so that the resulting water surge intensifies along the length of the drainage channel, thus improving the cleaning of the drainage channel.

[0009] In an advantageous embodiment of the drainage channel, the closure element comprises a flap arranged in a frame element for at least partially closing the passage opening, as well as a stop formed on the frame element, against which the flap rests in a closed state. The flap can be pivoted away from the stop about a horizontally arranged pivot axis and has means for automatically opening due to an applied back pressure. Furthermore, the closure element is characterized in that the frame element is kept free above the flap, in which overflow area the pivot axis runs at a distance from an upper edge of the frame element.

[0010] This allows the flap in the frame element to be kept closed, so that incoming surface water can build up behind the flap and be held back by the flap. If necessary, either because the available water volume is required or because neighboring channel sections need to be flushed, the flap can be activated using the automatic opening means and the water can flow away. Until then, however, it is possible for further filling of the area of the adjacent channel sections blocked off by the flap by providing an overflow area above the flap. In other words, the flap is suspended below the upper edge of the frame element at a distance from it, so that the opening in the frame element is only partially covered by the flap.If the water also accumulates on the other side of the flap, it is possible that the water will flow over the flap through the overflow area into the cordoned-off area behind the flap, particularly into another storage space.

[0011] Accumulating the water level and releasing it for flushing purposes can also be achieved at multiple points in a channel run using a number of such flaps. This allows for the construction of a channel cascade, in which the surge flows accumulate over the length of the channel. This can be particularly useful if the individual backwater chambers are not completely full and the water in one chamber would otherwise be insufficient.

[0012] This makes it possible for the flap to be passed in at least one direction even when closed.

[0013] It can be advantageously provided that a trough pipe section is assigned to the overflow area on at least one side, preferably on both sides, which can be connected to trough pipe sections of adjacent channel sections, which can serve as drainage elements, and which directs surface water flowing into this area over the flap. Especially with low amounts of precipitation, it is possible that this water only flows into the drainage channel at a low speed and does not reach the center of the channel section, but slides down its walls. If trough pipe sections are installed there which can drain these relatively small amounts of water, these can be connected to corresponding trough pipe sections on the frame element and the drainage of these amounts of water can overcome the flap even without a water level in front of the flap rising due to accumulation. In particular, in conjunction with drainage elements, which can be installed below the gutter cover, it can be ensured that small amounts of water can always pass through the opening via the trough pipe sections.

[0014] Furthermore, it can be provided that the flap can be pivoted in a controlled manner between an open state and a closed state by means of a drive.

[0015] This makes it possible to specify from the outside under which situation the water accumulated behind the flap, the storage space, should be used, and thus when it can be drained into the adjacent channel section, especially the collection chamber. Such a drive can be remotely controlled as needed, or it can be configured using sensors to automatically control the flap when necessary.

[0016] Furthermore, it can be provided that the flap has metallic holding elements, on which the flap is held in the closed state with the help of at least one electromagnet. If it is considered sufficient for the flap to open itself due to the dynamic pressure of the water accumulated behind it, it can be sufficient to keep the flap in the closed state until it is simply released. The release then occurs by switching off the electromagnet, whereupon the flap is no longer held and swings open due to the water pressure. If necessary, the flap can be designed to be buoyant, i.e. have hollow floats or be made entirely of a buoyant material. For this purpose, the electromagnet acts on the metal holding elements attached to the flap. These are magnetically attracted by the electromagnet as long as the electromagnet is active.

[0017] However, such an arrangement requires that the electromagnet be constantly active in the rest position, i.e., when the flap is to be kept closed. Conversely, this also means that the electromagnet constantly consumes energy, and in the event of a power failure, the flap's retention is no longer guaranteed. Therefore, it can be particularly advantageous to reverse this effect by establishing a permanent magnetic connection between the frame element and the flap, which can be reinforced and / or released by forces and / or counterforces generated by at least one electromagnet. On the one hand, the permanent magnetic connection can be strengthened using the electromagnet, for example, to withstand greater back pressure before the flap is forced open due to the back pressure, or a repulsive force can be generated with the electromagnet, which counteracts and neutralizes the force of the permanent magnet. This would allow the permanent magnet to permanently hold the flap in the stop position, whereas only a short pulse from the electromagnet would be sufficient to cause the flap to open with its repulsion.

[0018] It can be advantageous in this case to provide for at least one electromagnet to be adjustable to determine a maximum back pressure. Furthermore, the electromagnet can be operated remotely, i.e. it can be controlled remotely in the classic way, or triggered based on a sensor measurement or control signals from a control device based on the measurement. The control unit can use the sensors to both precisely measure the amount of water present and make a pure estimate based on other circumstances. For example, it is possible to use temperature sensors as sensors, which provide information about the time of year. With corresponding stored values for seasonal precipitation, the desired opening state can then be deduced from the measured values from a temperature sensor.A barometer, for example, could also be used as a sensor, as could some other suitable sensors.

[0019] Furthermore, it can be provided that the frame element forms a top-side yoke, which, when installed, lies in a traffic area to be drained and which has at least one solar element and / or at least one energy storage device with which the at least one electromagnet can be operated. While the frame element as such provides the required rigidity to the structure by implementing a closed basic shape, the said yoke lies on the surface and forms a common surface with the gutter covers of adjacent gutter sections. The yoke and the solar elements incorporated therein, as well as any energy storage devices such as accumulators or batteries, can then supply both the sensors and the actuators with electrical energy.

[0020] Finally, the closure element can also be provided with at least one spring damper associated with the pivot axis of the flap to dampen the flap's closing movement. This ensures that the flap can only slowly approach its stop position, thus preventing any irritating noises from occurring in the flap area.

[0021] In a further advantageous embodiment, the invention provides for the gutter cover having a drainage element, wherein the drainage element comprises a fastening section and at least one drainage wing, which are pivotally connected to one another such that the drainage wing is held in a drainage position by a spring force and, with increasing load from incoming surface water, can deflect against the spring force toward a passage position. The gutter cover comprises an inlet grate with inlet openings, and the fastening section of the drainage element is attached to an underside of the inlet grate, which is intended to face a drainage channel.

[0022] This creates a channel cover into which surface water can flow into the drainage channel even when the diverter element is in a diverting position. However, the incoming water is not diverted toward the channel bottom in this diverting position, but rather toward the side walls. By attaching trough sections as diverting elements to the side walls, which can be connected to other water reservoirs or other depressions, automatic, variable drainage can be achieved in the event of larger or smaller amounts of surface water accumulating.

[0023] In addition, such a water guide wing can also keep light away from the inside of the gutter and thus ensure that no vegetation grows in the gutter.

[0024] In a specific embodiment, the fastening section can be connected to the at least one deflector wing via at least one film hinge. This is particularly simple and durable in terms of manufacturing technology. This is particularly useful when the deflector element is made entirely of plastic, so that the film hinge merely represents a thinner material.

[0025] While a deflection element with only one deflection vane is possible, a mirror-symmetrical arrangement of two deflection vanes on either side of the mounting section is preferred. The mounting section can be connected to the inlet grate centrally between the longitudinal edges on both sides.

[0026] In principle, the deflection element can be manufactured in such a way that the at least one deflection element is inherently resilient and returns to the deflection position. However, it is preferred if a spring element, preferably a spring steel clamp, is assigned to the deflection element. Such a spring element can form a connecting opening through which a screw connection of the fastening section to the inlet grate is passed.

[0027] Such a spring element can be positioned both below and above the deflection element, although a position below the deflection element is preferred. There, the spring element is less exposed to the elements and no dirt can accumulate on the spring element. Furthermore, the at least one deflection vane can have a peripheral bend on its edge facing away from the fastening section, with the bend being associated with a through-opening for receiving a spring clip of the spring element. This holds the spring immovably in its position and prevents it from twisting and thus moving out of its operative position.

[0028] In a further advantageous embodiment, the gutter section comprises two side walls, wherein the side walls have a frame at their free ends on which the gutter cover of the type described above is arranged.

[0029] Such a drainage channel can form a trough section on at least one of the side walls below the frame, which runs continuously as a drainage element, at least in one possible gradient direction, up to at least one end face of the channel run. Only when the trough section is led out of the channel section from any point within the channel, be it into an adjacent channel section, another trough section, or a lateral drain, does an actual separation of the different water loads occur. If, due to the intensity of the rainfall, at least one of the deflector vanes of the deflector element is pushed downwards against the spring force so far that the water can no longer fall into the trough section, the entire drainage channel is available for drainage.

[0030] With some advantage, the trough section can run along the entire drainage channel. This allows the trough section to both convey water from adjacent channel sections and collect water from the associated discharge wing along its entire length.

[0031] If the trough pipe section is intended to communicate with adjacent trough pipe sections of other gutter sections, it can be provided with terminal connecting elements, at least in the direction of gradient, for connecting to a trough pipe section of an adjacent gutter section. This can be achieved, in particular, by a tongue and groove connection or by an intermediate connector.

[0032] Finally, to provide a retrofit solution, each trough pipe section can also be connected to a side wall or frame, preferably detachably by hooking, clipping, or screwing. By adding at least one trough pipe section and the inlet grate with the drainage element, these can then be retrofitted at any time.

[0033] In a second aspect, the invention relates to a method for cleaning a drainage channel. The method is preferably carried out on a drainage channel according to the invention, but can also be applied to any other suitable drainage channel.

[0034] The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: Introducing surface water into a drainage channel with at least two channel sections, wherein a closure element is arranged in a passage opening arranged between the channel sections, wherein the closure element divides the at least two channel sections into at least one storage space and at least one collection space, damming introduced surface water in the storage space, wherein the closure element is in a closed position, moving the closure element into an open position, draining the dammed surface water from the storage space into the channel section behind it, in particular the collection space.

[0035] The water surge that forms in the reservoir due to the accumulated surface water can carry along any impurities or deposits from the drainage channel, especially those that are on the channel bottom, and flush them out of the drainage channel.

[0036] In an advantageous embodiment, the closure element comprises means by which the closure element is automatically moved from the closed position to the open position and vice versa. Such means can, for example, be a pivotable flap with permanent magnets. The permanent magnets are selected such that their attractive force is overcome when a defined dynamic pressure is applied to the closure element, and the flap of the closure element is pivoted, allowing the accumulated water to escape from the storage space. As soon as this water has completely flowed out, the flap pivots automatically back into the closed position due to the attraction of the permanent magnets.

[0037] Alternatively, the locking element can be controlled by a drive to move it into the closed and open positions. An example of such a controllable drive is described above. Remote control is particularly preferred.

[0038] The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment.

[0039] It shows: Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a drainage channel according to the invention with several channel sections and a closure element in the closed state in a longitudinal section, Figure 2 shows the drainage channel according to Figure 1 with the closure element open in a longitudinal section, Figure 3 the closure element according to Figures 1 and 2 in a separate illustration in perspective view obliquely from above and in the closed state of the flap, Figure 4 the closure element according to Figure 3with open flap in perspective view from below, Figure 5 a lateral cross-sectional view of the closure element according to Figures 3 and 4 in an installed state between two adjacent channel sections, Figure 6 the closure element in the installed state according to Figure 5 in the open state with water flowing through it, Figure 7 shows the gutter cover with a deflection element arranged on its underside in a perspective view, Figure 8 shows a front view of the gutter cover according to Figure 7 , Figure 9a detail of the Figure 8 , Figure 10 a spring element for arrangement below the diverting element in perspective view, Figure 11 a detail of the diverting element penetrated by the spring element on the underside, Figure 12 the drainage channel with the channel cover according to Figure 7 in a cross-sectional view, Figure 13 a detail of the Figure 12with raised deflector wings for the drainage of surface water into the trough sections, as well as Figure 14 the detail according to Figure 13 with folded down deflector wings to direct surface water into the drainage channel.

[0040] In Figure 1 an embodiment of a drainage channel 1 according to the invention with two channel sections 2 and a closure element 4 in the closed state is shown in a side view.

[0041] By means here in the Figures 1 and 2By means of the drainage elements 5 (not shown) on the channel cover 3 and the drainage elements 5 on the channel sections 2, surface water entering the channel cover 3 can be directed into the channel section 2 located behind the closure element 4, here the storage space, and collected. If there is a defined amount of water in the storage space or if a certain back pressure is reached at the closure element 4, the latter opens automatically and the water collected behind the closure element 4 is discharged in a torrential manner into the adjacent channel sections 2, in particular the collection space, as shown in Figure 2 shown, and any deposits or dirt are flushed out of the drainage channel 1.

[0042] Figure 3 shows the closure element 4 according to Figures 1 and 2in a detailed view, which is essentially constructed from a frame element 6 and a flap 7. The flap 7 is pivotally connected to the frame element 6 via a pivot axis 11, so that the flap 7 can be pivoted between a Figure 3 shown closed state and one in Figure 4 shown open state can be pivoted by at least approximately 90°. Now stands on the Figure 3If surface water that has flowed in through the side of the flap 7 shown in the drawing, the flap 7 is held in its closed state by means of a permanent magnet 8 on each side of the flap 7. At the moment when it is desired that the flap 7 opens and the water accumulated behind it flows into the channel section 2 beyond the flap 7, a counterforce is generated by means of an electromagnet 9, which exceeds the force of the permanent magnet 8. The permanent magnetic connection between the permanent magnet 8 and the Figure 4 The holding element 10 shown is thereby neutralized and the flap 7 can, also due to the water present, be opened according to Figure 4 This oscillating state is in Figure 6 shown where the closure element 4 is installed between two channel sections 2 arranged on both sides of the closure element 4.

[0043] A yoke 16 is provided on the top side of the frame element 6, in which solar elements 17 are arranged. These can supply the electromagnet 9 with energy and, if necessary, fill energy storage devices (not shown here) to power the electromagnet 9. The energy storage devices can also be accommodated in the yoke 16. This creates a self-sufficient solution that requires no external cabling to the trough sections 2.

[0044] Above the flap 7, between the pivot axis 11 and an upper edge 15 of the frame element 6, an overflow area 13 is kept free, through which water beyond the flap 7 can, if necessary, pass through the frame element 6 via the flap 7. However, this is only possible when the gutter section 2 beyond the flap 7 is completely filled. However, the gutter covers 3, which are arranged on the adjacent gutter sections 2, as in Figures 5 and 6As shown, diverting elements 5 can be assigned, which, when water quantities are low, divert the incoming water toward the sides of the channel sections 2. Trough line sections 18 can be provided there, into which the water then enters. These trough line sections 18 of the channel sections 2 can then in turn be connected to corresponding trough line sections 14 of the closure element 4, and direct the surface water flowing into the trough line sections 18 via the trough line sections 14, also over the flap 7.

[0045] Figure 7 shows a gutter cover 3, which comprises a conventional inlet grate 20 with a plurality of inlet openings 21, which is engaged underneath by a discharge element 5. Such a gutter cover 3 fits a conventional drainage channel 1 in terms of external dimensions and format and thus also emerges from a conventional gutter cover 3. As shown in Figure 8shown, it differs from the already known gutter covers in that it has a screw connection 24 in the middle of the underside 23, with the help of which a diverter element 5 is fixed to the inlet grate 20. For this purpose, a screw receptacle can be used, as is known for securing gutter covers 3 to the associated drainage channels 1. For this purpose, the screw passes through a web between two inlet openings 21 from an upper side 22 and protrudes again on an opposite underside 23. It can first be secured with a nut, then the diverter element 5 with its fastening section 25, which has a bore at a suitable point, is placed on top. This is followed by a spring element 30, which engages under lateral diverter wings 26 of the diverter element 5 and finally again a nut for securing, which is part of the screw connection 24.

[0046] If surface water now flows in from the top side 22 of the gutter cover 3, it falls through the inlet openings 21 onto the drainage element 5. In the case of low rainfall amounts, the water runs off to the lateral ends; in the case of high rainfall amounts, it first presses the drainage vanes 26 of the drainage element 5 downwards due to its weight against the force of the spring element 30.

[0047] The detail according to Figure 9 This shows the connection between the mounting section 25 and the deflector wings 26, which are formed by film hinges 29, i.e., thinner material sections. Thanks to these film hinges 29, the deflector wings 26 can be pivoted relative to the mounting section 25 without additional components.

[0048] The design of the spring element 30, which is already in the Figures 8 and 9 shown is in Figure 10shown again in detail. Such a spring element 30 consists of spring steel, which has two spring clips 32, which support the deflection vanes 26 of the deflection element 5 against gravity. The spring element 30 is held by a connecting opening 31, which protrudes laterally from the spring clips 32 and in this case consists of a loop formed by the spring element 30, which is formed from a continuous spring wire. The loop is threaded onto the screw connection 24 and secured with the lower nut against falling off. An additional safeguard against twisting can be provided as shown in Figure 11 shown. There, it is shown that the deflector vanes 26 have edge bends 27. These bends 27 are assigned through-openings 28 in the area of the spring elements 30, through which the spring clips 32 of the spring elements 30 are inserted.

[0049] Figure 12further shows a drainage channel 1, on which a channel cover 3 according to Figure 7 This is also a conventional drainage channel 1, in which, in addition to the channel cover 3, Figure 7 Additional lateral trough line sections 18 are added as drainage elements 5, for example by screwing, clipping, or hanging. The drainage channel 1 has a channel section 2, which is laterally delimited by side walls 33. These, in turn, are connected to each other via a channel base 34. The channel section 2 can be formed in one piece, as shown in the Figure 12 shown, but a multi-part gutter section 2 is also possible without any problems.

[0050] The upper part of the Figure 12 marked detail is in the Figures 13 and 14 Enlarged. On a frame 35 arranged at the upper end of the side walls 33, there is a gutter cover 3, the deflection wings 26 of which are Figure 13due to only slight rainfall and thus only a small amount of surface water flowing in, they are almost completely folded upwards. This occurs due to the spring action of the spring element 30 arranged beneath the deflector vanes 26. The only small amounts of rainfall are thus diverted along the deflector vanes 26 in the direction of the side walls 33 and run into the trough pipe sections 18 provided on the side walls 33, along which they can then run to a separate drain or into adjacent trough pipe sections 18 or adjacent channel sections that do not interact with the channel section 2 of the drainage channel 1. In this way, small amounts of rainfall can be collected. In addition, this allows the small amounts of rainfall in the summer months to be drained to other locations, such as into on-site planting basins, rather than into the sewer system.Larger amounts of precipitation, such as in winter, which are then also loaded with salt due to the use of de-icing salt and are rather unsuitable for planting basins, can then be drained into the sewer system.

[0051] This is in Figure 14 shown, where, due to the larger amount of water, the greater weight also rests on the deflector vanes 26 and thus on the spring element 30. In this position, a large portion of the incoming water in the drainage channel 1 now reaches its channel base 34 and can be drained into the sewer system.

[0052] Thus, a drainage channel is disclosed above which, by means of diverting elements and closure elements, enables easy cleaning of the drainage channel with the surface water introduced into the drainage channel. LIST OF REFERENCE SYMBOLS
