Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an air supply device, in particular for a fireplace or fireplace insert, having a duct section for conducting air, in particular combustion air. The invention further relates to a fireplace, in particular a fireplace or fireplace insert.
[0002] For the operation of single-room combustion systems, such as fireplaces and fireplace inserts, a supply of air, specifically combustion air, is essential. Depending on the air supply, specified characteristics regarding the combustion system's performance, emissions, and efficiency can be achieved. This also takes into account the differential pressure between the combustion system's supply air and exhaust air. A required pressure is referred to as the minimum discharge pressure. Even with a correct design of the exhaust system, especially the chimney, in accordance with technical, building, or emissions regulations, a difficulty arises in practice. Inevitably, a higher discharge pressure than actually required is reached.
[0003] Delivery pressures that deviate from normal conditions lead either to difficulties in igniting the fuel in the combustion system or to incomplete combustion of the fuel in the combustion system.
[0004] Devices for adjusting flow resistance have already been proposed within combustion systems. These include, for example, throttle valves installed only in the exhaust path or as secondary air devices in the exhaust system.
[0005] Typically, these installations attempt to create a negative pressure at the "nominal heat output" operating point that is comparable to that of the approval test. However, there are disadvantages in deviating operating conditions: At lower power levels, the pressure reduction is too small, leading to an increased air supply below the nominal heat output. At higher power levels, the pressure reduction is too large, as a secondary air device limits the negative pressure once the nominal heat output is reached and can lead to a lack of air when the power increases due to the corresponding air demand. Using a throttle valve on the exhaust side even results in an inversely proportional behavior, as with higher exhaust gas temperatures, caused by the higher power, the pressure loss at the throttle valve increases, and consequently, less air is supplied.
[0006] The invention is based on the object of providing an air supply device of the type mentioned above with which the flow resistance in a fireplace or fireplace insert can be adjusted. Furthermore, an improved fireplace is to be provided.
[0007] This object is achieved according to the invention with regard to the air supply device in that the duct section can be handled in a modular manner and in that at least one air valve with at least one blocking element is arranged in the duct section.
[0008] The device according to the invention, with its modular duct section, can be installed in front of the combustion air inlet of a combustion system. Thus, the air supply device according to the invention is not part of the combustion system and can therefore be used independently on chimneys or fireplace inserts.
[0009] The blocking element located in the duct section allows the flow resistance through the duct section to be adjusted. This adjustable flow resistance allows the combustion air supply pressure to be adjusted, thus adjusting the volume flow of combustion air fed into the combustion system. The air valve with the blocking element can be set to a large opening for heating-up operation. A closed position can provide a defined series resistance to the chimney during nominal load operation.
[0010] A first development of the invention provides that at least one air valve with at least two blocking elements, each with cutouts, is arranged in the duct section. Two or more blocking elements with cutouts allow for more precise adjustment of the air passage.
[0011] Preferably, each locking member is disc-shaped. A disc-shaped locking member has a small structural design, and several locking members can be stacked on top of each other. It can preferably be provided that several locking members are arranged so that their position can be individually adjusted relative to one another.
[0012] A further development of the invention provides that the width of the blocking elements is smaller than the inner width of the duct section. This development leaves a combustion air passage that always remains slightly open. The air supply to the combustion system is therefore never completely interrupted; a minimum cross-section remains free.
[0013] According to a further development of the invention, the blocking elements are arranged on a shaft, with the shaft oriented transversely to the air flow direction and a free end of the shaft located outside the duct section. According to this development, the blocking elements can be moved with the shaft. In particular, they can be aligned parallel to the air flow direction by tilting the blocking elements by 90°. This largely eliminates the flow resistance and advantageously prevents air insufficient situations, for example, during heating-up of the combustion system.
[0014] In terms of design, each blocking element can be a circular disc, and several blocking elements can be arranged on the same axis, lying congruently one on top of the other, in a duct section with a circular cross-section. The blocking elements are designed as circular discs, lying congruently one on top of the other. This air valve is inserted into the duct section, which, according to this refinement, has a circular cross-section. The inner diameter of the duct section is slightly larger than the diameter of the blocking elements, leaving a gap for the air passage, which always remains open.
[0015] According to a further development of the invention, pie-shaped cutouts are provided in each of the panes. The pie-shaped cutouts can be aligned to create a passage. However, the alignment can also be only partially achieved, reducing or increasing the passage. Each cutout is preferably formed over approximately 240° on the circular arc.
[0016] With regard to the fireplace, the solution to the problem is characterized in that the fireplace can be equipped with at least one air supply device of the type described above.
[0017] The proposed air supply device has a duct section for conducting air. This duct section is modular and can therefore be assigned to a fireplace.
[0018] The fireplace can be equipped with the air supply device inside or outside, preferably in front of the fireplace's air inlet. According to a further development, the fireplace can have a housing, and a location for the air supply device is formed within the housing. The air supply device is arranged with its duct section inside the fireplace, within a housing. The arrangement is preferably in front of the fireplace's air inlet, and the location for the air supply device is preferably formed in front of this air inlet.
[0019] The air supply device, with the duct section and the blocking element, forms a throttle valve that can be installed on the air inlet side. This installation position allows the air flow to be adjusted to the respective appliance output, as only here is the air flow proportional to the output. This allows the user to operate the fireplace as intended.
[0020] An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing. It shows: Figure 1: a perspective view of an air supply device with an air valve according to a first embodiment; Figure 2: a perspective view of a component of the air valve according to Fig. 1 ; Figure 3: a perspective view of an air supply device with an air valve according to a second embodiment; Figure 4: a perspective view of components of the air valve from Figure 3. Figure 5: a side view of a stove; and Figure 6: a perspective sectional view of the stove according to Figure 5 .
[0021] Figure 1 shows a cylindrical channel section 1. An air valve having a locking member 2 is inserted into the channel section 1. The locking member 2 is a circular disc.
[0022] Figure 1 also shows a shaft 5, which is arranged on a diameter line of the duct section 1, which has a circular cross-section. It is aligned transversely to the air flow direction through the duct section 1, and the locking element 2 is arranged and fixed on this shaft 5. The shaft 5 extends outward through the wall of the duct section 1 and has a bend 7. The shaft 5 can be manually rotated by 90° using the bend 7; in doing so, the locking element 2 is rotated along with it and arranged horizontally along the duct section 1.
[0023] Figure 2shows the locking member 2 with shaft 5 and bend 7 separated from the housing 1. The locking member 2 is circular and closed.
[0024] In the second embodiment of the invention in Figure 3 There are several locking elements 2, which are placed on top of each other and secured with a wing nut 6. An upper locking plate 2 has a scale 4. The shaft 5 with the angled portion 7 is also present. The locking elements 2 have cutouts 3 here.
[0025] Figure 4 shows the individual locking elements 2 from Figure 3 in a separate arrangement. The cutouts 3 of the locking elements 2 are visible, two locking elements 2 carry scales 4. The shaft 5 with the angle 7 is Figure 4 right locking link 2. With the help of the wing nut 6, all locking links 2 are connected to the shaft 5.
[0026] The fireplace in Figure 5has a housing 8 and an exhaust pipe 9. A combustion chamber 10 is arranged in the housing 8, which is closed by a door 11. A combustion material 12 is indicated.
[0027] Below the combustion chamber 10 and within the housing 8 there is an air inlet 13 for the supplied combustion air. This air reaches the combustion chamber 10 along arrow 14. As it passes through, the air passes through an air supply device according to the invention, for example according to the embodiment of the Figures 3 and 4 . Locking elements 2 are arranged horizontally along a wall 15.
[0028] Also Figure 6 shows the locking elements 2 in a breakthrough in front of the air inlet 13.
