Description

[0001] EYEWEAR ASSEMBLY

[0002] * * *

[0003] Technical Field

[0004] The present invention concerns the eyewear sector and in particular frames for sports sunglasses with interchangeable lenses. In particular, the present invention refers to a set of sports sunglasses which allows, in a simple, reliable and economical way, to replace the lenses and also to fit corrective lenses for optimal vision correction.

[0005] Background

[0006] It is known that people who practice outdoor sports commonly wear glasses to protect their eyes from the sun, wind and precipitation, and from external particles.

[0007] Sports glasses are usually designed to suit a particular sporting activity. People who practice a plurality of outdoor activities can have multiple sports glasses, each dedicated to a corresponding activity, or have glasses with interchangeable sunglasses lenses for better adaptation to sunlight conditions in different sports activities.

[0008] In the prior art, for the purpose of using corrective lenses in sports glasses, there are two main distinct solutions, illustrated by way of example in Figure 1.

[0009] The first solution consists of correction lenses that are inserted onto glasses in the same way as inserting sun lenses, i.e. by pressing on a closed seat as shown in Figure la. This solution is not optimal, as the shape and construction of sports eyeglass frames prevent optimal vision correction. In fact, to protect the eyes during physical activity, sports glasses have an enveloping shape around the user's face, in which the frame includes a front part with a significantly greater curvature than that of prescription or corrective glasses. This curvature prevents correct centering of a prescription or corrective lens, since sports glasses usually mount lenses with a base curve greater than or equal to 6, while prescription glasses mount lenses at most with a base curve equal to 4; in this regard, as is known, the base curve is a measure of the curvature of a lens, so the higher the base curve, the more curved the lens is and its center is further from the eye, while the lower the base curve the less the lens is curved and its center is close to the eye.

[0010] The second solution, shown in Figure lb, provides a lens insert applicable on the front part of the frame, creating a double lens arrangement in which the native sun lens is in a proximal position with respect to the eye and the supplementary corrective lens is in position distal. Both solutions significantly limit the field of vision and worsen the design of the glasses, while the solution in Figure la also conditions the use of the glasses to a single subject without allowing the use of the glasses even with sunglasses and contact lenses.

[0011] Further solutions developed in the prior art to allow the use of corrective lenses in sports glasses are described, for example, in patent application US 2014 / 0226121 Al, which discloses sports glasses comprising interchangeable lenses, in patent application EP 3364234 Al, which discloses a combined eyewear structure whose components can be separated or combined to adapt to different sporting activities, and in patent US 5,9240,963, which discloses an apparatus and system of corrective lenses for use in ski goggles or other protective sports glasses (goggles).

[0012] However, even such prior art sports glasses, including those with interchangeable sun lenses, do not meet the needs of people who would like to wear corrective lenses in conjunction with protective glasses.

[0013] The aim of the present invention, therefore, is to overcome the disadvantages mentioned above with reference to the known art and to provide sports sunglasses which allow, in a simple, reliable and economical way, optimal vision correction.

[0014] Summary of the disclosure

[0015] It is a specific object of the present invention an eyewear assembly comprising a frame having a frame front that forms two open frames which are symmetrical to each other with respect to a nose assembly of the frame front and a pair of closed lens-holder frames mirrored each other, wherein each closed lens-holder frame is configured to removably couple with the frame in correspondence with said two open frames.

[0016] According to another aspect of the invention, said frame front can include a frontal top rod integrally coupled with the nose assembly and two lateral fins which are symmetrical to each other with respect to the nose assembly and extend towards the bottom substantially transversally to the frontal top rod, wherein the two lateral end portions of the frontal top rod opposite each other, wherein the two open frames are formed by two respective portions of the frontal top rod , the nose assembly and the two lateral fins.

[0017] According to a further aspect of the invention, said nose assembly can include a nose and two lateral bottom nosepieces, wherein the nose is coupled in an integrally manner with the frontal top rod and the two lateral bottom nosepieces laterally extend from nose towards the bottom. According to an additional aspect of the invention, at least a portion of an inner lateral edge of each said closed lens-holder frame can be configured to removably couple with a respective lateral edge of the nose assembly by engaging a groove of the respective lateral edge of the nose assembly.

[0018] According to another aspect of the invention, at least one portion of an outer lateral edge of each said closed lens-holder frame can be configured to removably couple with a respective lateral fin by at least one outer rear lateral hook element that each outer lateral edge (12) of each close lens-holder frame (10) is provided for, wherein said at least one outer rear lateral hook element is configured to engage the respective lateral fin.

[0019] According to a further aspect of the invention, said at least one outer rear lateral hook element is configured to engage the respective lateral fin in correspondence with at least one concavity of the respective lateral fin.

[0020] According to an additional aspect of the invention, at least a portion of a top edge of each said closed lens-holder frame can be configured to removably couple with the respective portion of the top front rod by at least one rear top hook element that the top edge of each close lensholder frame is provided for, wherein said at least one rear top hook element is configured to engage the respective portion of the top frontal rod.

[0021] According to another aspect of the invention, said at least one reartop hook element can be configured to engage the respective portion of the frontal top rod in correspondence with a recess of the respective portion of the frontal top rod.

[0022] According to a further aspect of the invention, vision and / or sun ray protection first lenses can be mounted in said closed lens-holder frames.

[0023] According to an additional aspect of the invention, said frame further includes two temples, each one including at least two elements configured to be removably coupled each other.

[0024] According to another aspect of the invention, said two open frames can each be configured to house and hold a respective second lens in a removably way, optionally a lamellar lens.

[0025] According to a further aspect of the invention, said groove of the respective lateral edge of the nose assembly can be configured to receive and removably retain a respective portion of a perimeter edge of a respective second lens.

[0026] According to an additional aspect of the invention, said bottom frontal edge of said frontal top rod can be provided with two grooves, which are symmetrical to each other with respect to a nose assembly, each one being configured to house and hold in a removably way a respective portion of a perimeter edge of the respective second lens.

[0027] According to another aspect of the invention, said inner lateral edge of each of said two lateral fins can be provided with a respective groove configured to house and hold in a removable way a respective portion of a perimeter edge of the respective second lens.

[0028] The advantages offered by the invention are numerous and significant.

[0029] First of all, the eyewear assembly of the present invention, thanks to the closed lensholder frames, allows any corrective lens to be mounted, typically with a base curve not exceeding 4, on a frame having a high curvature typical of the wraparound frames of sports sunglasses in which lenses with a base curve greater than or equal to 6 are mounted.

[0030] In fact, in coupling configuration of the eyewear assembly of the present invention, the pair of closed lens-holder frames is removably coupled with the front to a frame. This allows each closed lens-holder frame to be shaped with size different from those of the corresponding open frame.

[0031] In other words, since the closed lens-holder frames must not be inserted, or in other words housed, in the open frames of the front of the frame, the curvature of the frame does not influence the curvature of the closed lens-holder frames.

[0032] The eyewear assembly is extremely versatile as both sun protection lenses and prescription lenses, possibly having UV protection from sunlight, can be applied to the frame by using closed lens-holder frames; in particular, sun protection lenses can also be applied directly to the frame.

[0033] In addition, the assembly and disassembly operations of the closed lens-holder frames, as well as the sun protection lenses, are simple and quick for the user.

[0034] Finally, the closed lens-holder frames protect the lenses like armor and allow the mounting of any prescription lens due to their limited curvature compared to the curvature of the frame.

[0043] In the figures identical reference numbers will be used for similar elements.

[0044] Detailed description

[0045] In the following, the eyewear assembly according to the present invention will be described in a reference system of a user who wears it. Therefore, with top, bottom, right lateral and left lateral respectively it is meant the direction along the sagittal plane from the feet towards the head, the direction along the sagittal plane from the head towards the feet, the lateral directions towards the right side and towards the left side with respect to the sagittal plane of the user wearing the eyewear assembly. Similarly, by horizontal it is meant a direction substantially parallel to the transverse plane of the user wearing the eyewear assembly, i.e. substantially parallel to an axis passing through the eyes of a user.

[0046] Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the eyewear assembly 100 according to the invention in a coupling configuration, in which two closed lens-holder frames 10, mirror images of each other, are removably frontally coupled with a frame 20. Each of the two closed lens-holder frames 10 mounts a respective first lens 40 with a first base curve for vision correction and / or sun protection, whereby each closed lens-holder frame 10 surrounds the respective first lens 40. The mounting of the first lenses 40 in the respective closed lens-holder frames 10 is simple and conventional. With reference to Figure 3, the frame 20 includes a front part 21, which in the following is called "front", and a pair of lateral rods 26, namely temples, optionally made of rigid material, which are configured to be supported by the ears of a user who wears the eyewear assembly 100, in such a way that the lateral rods 26 in turn support the front 21.

[0047] With reference to Figure 4, the frame 20 is also configured to removably mount, in other words to removably retain, a pair of second lenses 50, specular to each other, having a second base curve different from the first base curve of the first lenses 40, optionally larger.

[0048] The lateral rods 26 are conventionally hinged to two respective lateral ends of the front 21, so that they can be folded when the eyewear assembly 100 is not worn by a user, and each includes a front element 26A and a rear element 26B coupled by plug-in coupling between them. Advantageously, the rear element 26B can be made of a different material compared to the material with which the other elements of the frame are made, i.e. the front 21 and the front element 26A, for greater grip with the temple and / or the ear of a user wearing the frame 20.

[0049] It must be noted that in other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention the lateral rods can be integrally coupled with the front of the frame, rather than hinged at its ends, and in this case the lateral temples can optionally be incorporated into the frame forming with it a monolithic element, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0050] It must also be kept in mind that in further embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention the lateral rods can each be formed by a number of elements connected to each other, even in a different way from a plug-in coupling, different from two, in particular a single element or three or more elements, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0051] It must also be kept in mind that in other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention the lateral rods can be coupled with each other, for example by means of an elastic element coupled with the ends of each of the two lateral rods opposite to the ends coupled with the front of the frame, and in this case the lateral rods can be optionally integrated into a single support element configured to wrap the head of the user who wears the eyewear assembly according to the invention, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined from the attached claims.

[0052] Referring in particular to Figure 3b, the front 21 includes a frontal top rod 22 which extends substantially horizontally; in particular, the lateral rods 26 are conventionally hinged to the lateral ends of the top front rod 22. The frontal top rod 22 is integrally coupled with a bridge, or nose, 23 which extends transversely from the frontal top rod 22 towards the bottom and from which two lateral bottom nosepieces 230 configured to rest extend laterally towards the bottom on the nose of a user wearing the eyeglass assembly 100, thereby supporting the same front p21 when the eyeglass assembly 100 is worn by a user. In other words, the nose 23 and the two bottom lateral nosepieces 230 form a nose assembly, in which the nose 23 bisects the top front rod 22 and is provided with two bottom lateral nosepieces 230 which spread apart from each other; the nose 23 and each of the two lateral nosepieces 230 form two respective lateral edges

[0053] 24 of the nose assembly which face outwards with respect to a nose of a user wearing the eyeglass assembly 100. The front 21 also includes two lateral fins 25 mirroring each other which extend towards the bottom substantially transversely to the frontal top rod 22 from two lateral end portions of the frontal top rod 22 opposite each other.

[0054] The top front rod 22, the nose 23, the two lateral nosepieces 230 and the two lateral fins

[0055] 25 form a pair of open frames 27 mirroring each other, in which the inner lateral edges of the two lateral fins 25 act as outer lateral edges of the open frames 27, which are opposed to the lateral edges 24 of the nose assembly, which act as inner side edges of the open frames 27. The inner side edges of the two lateral fins 25 and the lateral edges 24 of the nose assembly of each open frame 27 are joined together by two respective bottom front edges 28 of the top front rod 22.

[0056] Each closed lens-holder frame 10 is shaped with size that can be different from those of the corresponding open frame 27.

[0057] Making particular reference to Figure 3c, along each of the lateral edges 24 there is a groove 240 which runs along the nose 23 and the respective lateral nosepiece 230. Furthermore, along each of the two bottom front edges 28 of the top front rod 22 there is a respective groove, not visible in the Figures; similarly, as shown in Figure 3b, along the inner lateral edge of each of the two lateral fins 25 there is a respective groove 250. Advantageously, the groove of each of the two bottom front edges 28 of the top front rod 22 joins the groove 240 of the respective lateral edge 24 of the nose assembly and the groove 250 of the respective lateral fin 25 which are part of the same frame open 27. The grooves of the two bottom front edges 28 of the top front rod 22, the grooves 240 of the lateral edges 24 of the nose assembly and the grooves 250 of the lateral fins 25 are configured to removably hold, via a lens retaining groove, a respective portion of the perimeter edge of a second lens 50, optionally a lamellar lens, as shown in Figure 4; in particular, the width and depth of at least part of said grooves is configured to engage the respective portion of the perimeter edge of the second lens 50.

[0058] The second lens 50 has a second base curve different from the first base curve of the first lenses 40, optionally larger.

[0059] The grooves 240 of the lateral edges 24 of the nose assembly and the grooves 250 of the lateral fins 25 may be configured to removably hold lenses of different shapes.

[0060] In other words, each of the two open frames 27 is configured to receive and removably hold a respective second lens 50. Advantageously, the width and depth of each of said grooves are constant along the groove considered, and optionally are equal to those of the other grooves.

[0061] It must be noted that in other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention the grooves of the two bottom front edges of the top front rod do not join the grooves of the respective lateral edges of the nose assembly and / or the grooves of the respective side fins which are part of the same open frame, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0062] It should also be noted that further embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may include grooves only along the two bottom front edges of the top front rod, or only along the lateral edges of the nose assembly, or only along the lateral fins, or, for each open frame, on two elements selected from the group consisting of the respective bottom front edge of the top front rod, the respective lateral edge of the nose assembly, and the respective lateral fin, always remaining in the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0063] It should also be noted that other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may be noseless, whereby the nose assembly consists of two lateral nosepieces, whereby the two lateral edges of the nose assembly are formed by the respective two lateral nosepieces and on each of them there is at least partially a groove that runs along the respective lateral nosepiece, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0064] Figures 5 and 6 show two perspective views of the preferred embodiment of the eyewear assembly 100 in a decoupling configuration, namely in which the pair of closed lens-holder frames 10 are decoupled from the frame 20. Since each closed lens-holder frame lens 10 is a mirror image of the other, the following description applies to both closed lens-holder frames 10. In particular, each of the two closed lens-holder frames 10 is configured to couple the frame 20 in correspondence with the two open frames 27.

[0065] A respective first lens 40 for correction and / or protection from solar rays is mounted in each of the two closed lens-holder frames 10. The closed lens-holder frame 10 has a closed outline which includes an inner lateral edge 11, configured to face the nose assembly when the closed lens-holder frame 10 is coupled with the frame 20, and an outer lateral edge 12, opposite the inner lateral edge 11 and which is configured to face the respective lateral fin 25 when the closed lens-holder frame 10 is coupled with the mount 20.

[0066] Two rear top hook elements 13 are positioned on a top edge 14 of the closed lens-holder frame 10, advantageously integrally coupled with it, and two external rear lateral hook elements 15 are positioned on the outer lateral edge 12 of the closed lens-holder frame 10, advantageously integrally coupled with it. As evident from the Figures, the rear top and external rear lateral hook elements 13 and 15 project from the rear of the closed lens-holder frame 10.

[0067] Note that in the coupling configuration, neither of the two closed lens-holder frames 10 is inserted, in other words housed, in an open frame 27, so each closed lens-holder frame 10 can be shaped with size that can be different from those of the open frames 27.

[0068] In the coupling configuration between the closed lens-holder frame 10 and the frame 20, (at least) a portion of the inner lateral edge 11 of each closed lens-holder frame 10 is configured to removably engage the respective groove 240 along the respective lateral edge 24 of the nose assembly, as shown in particular in Figures 2 and 7b.

[0069] The two rear top hook elements 13 are configured to snap-fit in a removable manner onto the top of a respective portion of the frontal top rod 22 which is part of the open frame 27 at which the closed lens-holder frame 10 is configured to couple to the front 20. To facilitate the coupling operation of the two rear top hook elements 13 to the top front rod 22, the top of the latter advantageously inlcudes two pairs of recesses 31 and the two rear top hook elements 13 are shaped to engage the recesses 31.

[0070] Similarly, the two external rear lateral hook elements 15 are configured to snap-fit in a removable manner onto a respective portion of the respective lateral fin 25 which is part of the open frame 27 at which the closed lens-holder frame 10 is configured to couple to the front 20. To facilitate the coupling operation of the two external rear lateral hook elements 15 to the respective lateral fin 25, the external edge 29 of each lateral fin 25 advantageously has a concavity 32 configured to receive and removably hold one of the two elements 15 external rear side hooks.

[0071] It must be noted that other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may lack the recesses 31 and / or may have a number of rear top hook elements 13, and possibly corresponding recesses 31, different from two, in particular a single or three or more rear top hook elements, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0072] It must also be noted that other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may be devoid of top rear hook elements 13, and possibly of corresponding recesses 31, thus comprising at least one outer rear lateral hook element 15 and possibly of at least one corresponding concavity 32 .

[0073] Similarly, it must be noted that further embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may lack the concavity 32 configured to receive and removably hold one of the two outer rear lateral hook elements 15 and / or may have two concavities each configured to receive and hold in a removable manner a respective outer rear lateral hook element 15 and / or they can have a number of outer rear lateral hook elements 15, and possibly corresponding concavities 32 , different from two, in particular only one or three or more rear top hook elements , always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims.

[0074] It must also be noted that other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may be devoid of outer rear lateral hook elements 15 and possibly of corresponding concavities 32, therefore comprising at least one top rear hook element 13, and possibly of at least one corresponding recess 31.

[0075] It must also be noted that other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention can have, in combination with or alternatively with at least one recess 31, at least one opening, optionally a through opening, on the top front rod 22 where at least one respective rear top hook element 13 is configured to be inserted, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims .

[0076] It must also be noted that further embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention can have, in combination with or alternatively with at least one concavity 32, at least one opening , optionally a through opening , on each of the two lateral fins 25 where at least one respective outer rear lateral hook element 15 is configured to be inserted , always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims .

[0077] It should further be noted that other embodiments of the eyewear assembly according to the invention may have each closed lens-holder frame 10 which is configured to removably couple to the front 21 of the frame 20 by means of one or two edges thereof selected by the group consisting of inner lateral edge 11, outer lateral edge 12, and top edge 14, always remaining within the scope of protection of the present invention as defined by the attached claims. By way of example, and not by way of limitation, the person skilled in the art can use any removable coupling between the closed lens-holder frames 10 and front 21 of the frame 20, such as the following mechanical couplings, possibly assisted by magnetic couplings via magnetic devices and ferromagnetic materials placed in the closed lens-holder frames 10 and in the front 21 of the frame 20: at least a portion of the inner lateral edge 11 of each closed lens -holder frame 10 can couple in a removable manner to the respective lateral edge 24 of the nose assembly by engaging in the respective groove 240 and / or by means of at least one hook element of the inner lateral edge 11 which it hooks onto the respective lateral edge 24, possibly inserting itself into a respective opening, optionally passing through, on the nose assembly, and / or at least a portion of the outer lateral edge 12 of each closed lens -holder frame 10 can couple in a removable manner to the respective lateral fin 25 by engaging in the respective groove 250 and / or by means of at least one outer rear lateral hook element 15 which hooks onto the respective fin lateral 25, optionally in correspondence with a respective concavity 32 or recess of the respective lateral fin 25, possibly inserting into a respective opening, optionally passing through, of the respective lateral fin 25, and / or at least a portion of the top edge 14 of each closed lens-holder frame 10 can couple in a removable manner to the respective portion of the top front rod 22 by engaging in the respective groove of the bottom front edge 28 and / or by means of at least one element 13 a rear top hook which hooks onto the respective portion of the frontal top rod 22 optionally in correspondence with a respective recess 31 and / or inserting itself into a respective opening, optionally passing through, of the frontal top rod 22.

[0078] Advantageously, the frame 20 and the closed lens-holder frames 10 are made with 12 grade transparent amorphous polyamide molds.

[0079] In the above, the preferred embodiments have been described and variations of the present invention have been suggested, but it is to be understood that those skilled in the art will be able to make modifications and changes without thereby departing from the relevant scope of protection, as defined by the attached claims.
