Integrally threaded composite bottom bracket

Abstract

Described herein is an integrally threaded composite part having a first structural member extending along a first plane, a second structural member extending along the first plane, a hollow inner bore located at an intersection of the first and second structural members, the hollow inner bore extending perpendicularly to the first plane, and at least one composite thread located along the interior of the hollow inner bore and integrally formed therewith. Further disclosed is a method of manufacture including wrapping at least one molding insert with a preformed fiber reinforced material, debulking the at least one molding insert, marrying the debulked fiber reinforced material with at least one preformed composite part; inserting the at least one molding insert, debulked fiber reinforced material and at least one preformed composite part into a tool assembly, and molding the at least one preformed composite part into the part mold.
