Abstract

The subject of the invention is a microlens coating, especially for photovoltaic cells, and a method for its production. For electricity supply, solar as a renewable (PV) energy source is being deployed at an accelerated pace due to its low generation costs, proven reliability and reduced associated carbon emissions. However, the performance of this technology has known limitations. The conversion efficiency of solar energy into electricity is about 18-22%. Research and development efforts are aimed at reducing the price of solar energy by reducing the cost of a photovoltaic module or increasing its efficiency. A significant improvement in the efficiency of photovoltaic cells is achieved with concentrated photovoltaics (CPV) technology. CPV systems use optical equipment to concentrate solar radiation reaching the photovoltaic cells. The common goal of these systems is to channel more electromagnetic energy onto the PV surface and thus achieve more efficiency (electrical power) for the same size of PV panel. The highest efficiency of CPV cells known so far ranges from 38.9% to 46%.
