User authentication using an ultrasound probe

Abstract

An imaging system that includes an ultrasound probe acquires a first scan of a portion of a first subject via the ultrasound probe in accordance with a first set of imaging control parameters, including activating at least a first subset of the plurality of transducers of the ultrasound probe. The imaging system transmits, to a computing device that is communicatively connected with the ultrasound probe, the first scan of the portion of the first subject. The computing device includes a database of biometric information of users associated with the ultrasound probe. The imaging system receives, from the computing device, information that the first scan of the portion of the first subject matches a first record in the database. In accordance with the receiving, the imaging system authorizes acquisition of ultrasound imaging data via the ultrasound probe.
