Abstract

The invention relates to a ventilator having at least one sound-attenuating device, wherein: the ventilator comprises a housing having at least one device input, at least one device output and at least one duct to conduct respiratory gas; the duct is formed between the device input and the device output; at least one respiratory-gas source is located in or on the duct for generating a respiratory-gas flow, and therefore the duct has at least one suction side having a suction channel, and has at least one discharge side having an outlet channel; the respiratory-gas flow is guided in the suction channel from the device input to the respiratory-gas source, and sound waves run in a direction of sound from the respiratory-gas source towards the device input and therefore counter to the flow direction; and the respiratory-gas flow flows in the outlet channel from the respiratory-gas source to the device output, and sound waves run in a direction of sound from the respiratory-gas source towards the device output and therefore in the flow direction, characterized in that the sound-attenuating device is located on the suction side in or on the suction channel and / or on the discharge side in or on the outlet channel, wherein the sound-attenuating device is designed and configured to attenuate sound waves which run in the flow direction and / or counter to the flow direction of the respiratory gas.
