[0032] FIG. 6 shows an example communication between user equipment (UE) and the network. In block 602, a signal including the configuration is sent from the basestation to the UE. In one example, the signal may be an  RRC signal. It includes the report setting, a resource setting and a processing method setting. This information is used in block 604 for a report setting by associating with a process method setting. In block 606, the channel information report is submitted / reported based on the report setting.

[0033] In some embodiments, the processing method setting includes at least one of: an identification associated with a processing method, or a feature (or use case) indication and an identification associated with a processing method within the feature. In some embodiments, there are multiple identifications (IDs) for each of multiple processing methods. The feature indication and an ID associated with a processing method, wherein the feature indication includes the function / purpose that the processing method is used for. In one example, that function / purpose may include channel information state (CSI) compression / prediction, beam information prediction, or positioning related information. This may allow for improved processing with the information.

[0034] In some embodiments, there may be multiple processing methods (or AI / ML models) that are deployed within a single feature for more efficient processing through multiple methods. The ID associated with a processing method may be defined locally within a feature. In other words, two processing methods belong to different features that can have the same ID.

[0035] In some embodiments, the network configures a list of processing methods. Each processing method may be assigned with an ID as discussed above. The network configures the list of processing methods and uses the ID to indicate the processing method. In some embodiments, only a processing method included in the list can be configured in the processing method setting. Multiple processing methods provide more options and improved processing. Utilizing the ID can improve coordination between the processing methods.

[0036] In some embodiments, the network can send activation signaling to the UE for initiating the processing method communications. The activation signaling selects a subset of processing methods in the list for activation. The processing methods in the subset are referred to as first type processing methods (or activated / active processing methods) and the remaining processing methods in the list are referred to as second type processing methods (or deactivated / inactive processing methods) . In some embodiments, the list of processing methods is configured in a RRC signaling. The activation signaling / message is a MAC CE. At least a field of MAC CE indicates a processing method in the list is activated or deactivated. In some embodiments, there is a time offset between the time when the activation signaling is received and the time when the activation signaling is applied. Each processing method is associated with an activation time / latency. The time offset is determined according to the activation time / latency. The activation time / latency is reported by the UE per processing method. If the  activation signaling is to activate a processing method, the time offset is determined according to the activation time / latency of the processing method. This activation signaling identifies which processing method is active or which is inactive. If the activation signaling is to activate a subset of processing methods, time offset is determined according to the largest activation time / latency of the processing methods in the subset or the summation of all activation time / latency of the processing methods in the subset. The activation time / latency for the active model and inactive model are different. For example, the activation time / latency is larger for an inactive model or processing method.

[0037] In some embodiments, the network can send a deactivation signaling to the UE. The deactivation signaling selects a subset of processing methods in the list for deactivation. In some embodiments, there is a time offset between the time when the deactivation signaling is received and the time when the deactivation signaling is applied. Each processing method is associated with a deactivation time / latency. The time offset is determined according to the deactivation time / latency. The deactivation time / latency is reported by the UE per the processing method. If the deactivation signaling is to activate a processing method, the time offset is determined according to the deactivation time / latency of the processing method. This communication provides further options for initiating the processing method.

[0038] In some embodiments, the UE reports the maximum number of processing methods. The UE might have different capabilities for the number. For example, in some embodiments, the UE can process / operate X processing methods simultaneously in a component carrier, and / or the UE can process / operate Y processing methods simultaneously across all component carriers. In some embodiments, the UE reports the maximum number of processing methods being associated with report settings. The UE may report a maximum number of processing methods associated with periodic report settings. The UE may report a maximum number of processing methods associated with periodic report settings per bandwidth part (BWP) per feature. In some embodiments, the UE reports the maximum number of processing methods being associated with semi-persistent report setting. The UE may report a maximum number of processing methods associated with semi-persistent report settings per bandwidth part (BWP) per feature. In some embodiments, the UE reports the maximum number of processing methods being associated with aperiodic report setting. The UE may report a maximum number of processing methods associated with aperiodic report settings per bandwidth part (BWP) per feature. Multiple processing methods provide more options and improved processing. There are various reporting settings using a maximum number of processing methods to improve communication and control usage of those methods.

[0039] The active processing method or methods may be distinguished from inactive processing methods. In some embodiments, the UE reports the maximum number of active processing methods. The UE can process / operate X active processing methods simultaneously. This simultaneous processing may include that the UE can process / operate X active processing methods simultaneously in a component carrier, and / or the UE can process / operate Y active processing methods simultaneously across all component carriers. In some embodiments, UE reports the maximum number of active processing methods being associated with report settings. This may not be simultaneous processing methods. In some embodiments, the UE reports a maximum number of active processing methods associated with periodic report setting, with periodic report setting per BWP per feature, with semi-persistent report setting, with semi-persistent report setting per BWP per feature, with aperiodic report setting, and / or with aperiodic report setting per BWP per feature.

[0040] The inactive processing method or methods may be distinguished from active processing methods. In some embodiments, the UE reports the maximum number of inactive processing methods. The UE can process / operate Y inactive processing methods simultaneously. The simultaneous processing may be simultaneously in a component carrier, and / or simultaneously across all component carriers. The UE reports the maximum number of inactive processing methods being associated with report settings, with periodic report setting, with periodic report setting per BWP per feature, with semi-persistent report setting, with semi-persistent report setting per BWP per feature, with aperiodic report setting, and / or with periodic report setting per BWP per feature.

[0041] Some parameters in a report setting are not be required to be configured when the report setting is associated with a processing method setting. The parameters are acquired via the information related to the processing method. For example, when training a model or a processing method, this may apply to a certain use case. Some parameters in the report setting may not be required to be configured. For example, the report quantity in a report setting may not be required to be configured when the report setting is associated with a processing method setting. The feature (or use case) of the corresponding processing method may be used as the report quantity of the report setting. If the feature of the processing method is CSI compression, the report quantity may include PMI by default. In another example, the processing method may be enabled by an AI / ML model. The input and output for the model may be generally fixed / pre-defined. Therefore, if a report setting is associated with a processing method setting, some parameters are fixed / pre-defined according to the processing method. The information communicated between the network / basestation and the UE helps the UE report the channel information based on a corresponding processing method.

[0042] If the processing method is for CSI compression / prediction, the frequency granularity for PMI / CQI, the reporting subbands for PMI / CQI (indicating a contiguous or non-contiguous subset of subbands which CSI / CQI shall be reported for) , a number of antenna ports, and / or a number of antenna ports in the first / second dimension can be acquired by the information related to the processing method. If the processing method is for beam prediction, the number of beams to be included in the channel information can be acquired by the information related to the processing method.

[0043] The report settings may be configured by the network, where the report settings can be periodic, semi-persistent, and / or aperiodic. The network may send an activation / deactivation commands (e.g., via MAC CE) for semi-persistent report setting, or send an indication command (e.g., via DCI) for aperiodic report setting. The report setting may be first configured by network and the activated / indicated by the activation and / or indication commands. Both active processing methods and inactive processing methods can be associated with a report setting that is for a periodic report setting. In some embodiments, a report setting can be activated by the activation command when the associated processing method is active, where the report setting is semi-persistent setting. A report setting can be indicated by the indication command when the associated processing method is active, where the report setting is aperiodic report setting. In some embodiments, the associated processing method setting to a report setting is determined by an activation command (e.g., MAC CE) or an indication command (e.g., DCI) . The associated processing method setting to a report setting configured (e.g., in RRC signaling) can be updated by an activation command (e.g., MAC CE) or an indication command (e.g., DCI) . The associated processing method setting to a report setting determined by an activation command (e.g., MAC CE) or an indication command (e.g., DCI) should be an active processing method. There are various reporting settings using a maximum number of processing methods to improve communication and control usage of those methods.

[0044] In some embodiments, the UE processing time / latency for a channel information report based on a reporting setting can be different depending on whether the associated processing method of the report setting is active or inactive. In some embodiments, the UE processing time / latency of a first channel information report is larger than a second channel information report, wherein the first channel information report is associated with an inactive processing method and the second channel information report is associated with an active processing method. The UE processing time / latency for the first channel information report should consider activation time / latency of the associated processing method. The UE processing time / latency for the second channel information report should not consider activation time / latency of the associated processing method. In some embodiments, the processing methods associated with the first channel information report and the second channel  information report are the same processing method.

[0045] In some embodiments, the report setting is associated with a performance target. The performance target is used for determining when the processing method or model works properly. The performance target is configured by the network. The performance target is different depending on whether the associated processing method of the report setting is active or inactive. In some embodiments, one report setting is associated with two performance targets, wherein the first performance target is valid / applied when the associated processing method of the report setting is inactive and the second performance target is valid / applied when the associated processing method of the report setting is active. For example, the report setting associated with an inactive processing method is used for monitoring / assessing the performance of the processing method. The report setting associated with an active processing method may be used to increase UE throughput or system performance. The requirement on the performance target for inactive processing method may be lower than the performance target for an active processing method. There are various reporting settings using a maximum number of processing methods to improve communication and control usage of those methods.

[0046] In some embodiments, one processing method is associated with multiple report settings. For example, when the processing method is enabled by an AI / ML model, the AI / ML model may have a good generalization capability so that the processing method can work in different environments or configurations. For example, one AI / ML model can work in different component carriers. The UE can train the model for different environments or configurations. Report settings associated with the same processing method cannot be used / activated / indicated simultaneously. For example, the UE may only have a single processor to operate the processing method, the UE may not operate the same processing method for the multiple report settings. If the multiple report settings are associated with the same processing method, the UE processing time / latency related to the channel information reports based on the reporting settings may be changed / updated. For example, the UE processing time of the channel information reports may be extended by an additional processing time.

[0047] In some embodiments, one report setting can be associated with more than one processing method settings. The UE can report which processing method setting has been used to get a channel information report. Multiple processing methods provide more options and improved processing through information communicated with the channel information report.

[0048] In some embodiments, a first report setting is associated with a second reporting setting. For example, a legacy system may include ways to acquire channel information, but using the processing method or AI model may  have a generalization problem where it only applies to certain environments or configurations. In this example, the second report setting (e.g. legacy system) may be used. To guarantee the UE can work properly, this legacy system report setting may be referred to as a fallback mechanism for the UE to switch from the AI method / model. In some embodiments, the first report setting (e.g. AI / ML) is associated with a processing method setting and the second report setting (e.g. legacy system) is not associated with a processing method setting. For example, the first report setting relies on AI / ML model (s) and the second reporting setting does not rely on AI / ML models. Due to the generalization problem of AI / ML models, they may not always work well in all environments or configurations. The channel information report can use the second report setting if the performance of the first report setting cannot meet a performance target. In some embodiments, the information in the two report settings may be the same, which includes at least one of

[0049] · Associated resource setting;

[0050] · Time-domain behavior (i.e., both report settings should be periodic / semi-persistent / aperiodic) ;

[0051] · Physical channel to report the corresponding channel information report;

[0052] · Report offset (or processing time / latency) of the corresponding channel information report;

[0053] · Report quantity;

[0054] · Frequency granularity / subband for CQI and PMI; or

[0055] · Number of RSRPs (or beams / reference signals) included in the channel information report.

[0056] In some embodiments, a channel information report from the UE includes a field to indicate whether the first reporting or second report setting is used to get the channel information report. The first report setting may be associated with a performance target. The UE may report an event / trigger related to the performance target. For example, the event / trigger indicates that the performance target of the report setting cannot be satisfied. The UE uses the second report setting to get the corresponding channel information report after the event is reported.

[0057] The system and process described above may be encoded in a signal bearing medium, a computer readable medium such as a memory, programmed within a device such as one or more integrated circuits, one or more processors or processed by a controller or a computer. That data may be analyzed in a computer system and used to generate a spectrum. If the methods are performed by software, the software may reside in a memory resident to or interfaced to a storage device, synchronizer, a communication interface, or non-volatile or volatile memory  in communication with a transmitter. A circuit or electronic device designed to send data to another location. The memory may include an ordered listing of executable instructions for implementing logical functions. A logical function or any system element described may be implemented through optic circuitry, digital circuitry, through source code, through analog circuitry, through an analog source such as an analog electrical, audio, or video signal or a combination. The software may be embodied in any computer-readable or signal-bearing medium, for use by, or in connection with an instruction executable system, apparatus, or device. Such a system may include a computer-based system, a processor-containing system, or another system that may selectively fetch instructions from an instruction executable system, apparatus, or device that may also execute instructions.
