AI Technical Summary
Existing aerosol delivery devices, such as tobacco heating devices, face challenges in ensuring the aerosol pathway is sealed before use, which can lead to contamination and reduced user experience.
The aerosol delivery device incorporates a housing with a passage for aerosolized flow, and packaging with a sealing member that seals the passage prior to use. The sealing member is designed to be removed or displaced relative to the device to open the passage, ensuring the device is ready for immediate use.
This solution effectively prevents contamination by keeping the aerosol pathway sealed until use, enhancing the user experience and maintaining the integrity of the aerosol delivery device.

Furthermore, the packaging 4 may extend about the whole of the housing 2 to hermetically seal the aerosol delivery device 1 within the packaging 4.
[0036] In some embodiments, the sealing member 5, and / or if present, the vent sealing member 7, are attached to the packaging 4. In this arrangement, the passage 3, and / or if present, the vent 6, are opened when the packaging 4, or at least a portion of the packaging 4 is removed from, or displaced relative to, the aerosol delivery device 1. This ensures that the device 1 is ready for immediate use by the user once the packaging 4 has been removed. Additionally, the sealing member 5, and / or if present, the vent sealing member 7 maybe retained by the packaging 4 in a position where the sealing member 5, and / or if present, the vent sealing member 7 seals the passage 3 or vent 6.
[0037] In some embodiments, the sealing members 5, 7 are integrally formed with the packaging 4. Such an arrangement improves ease of manufacture and results in improved material usage. The sealing members 5, 7 may be formed from a recyclable material. For example, the sealing members 5, 7 may be formed from paper, cardboard, or any other recyclable material. In some embodiments, the sealing members 5, 7 may a film seal extending over the passage 3 or vent 6. As shown in Figure 1, the sealing members 5, 7 may be a paper plug that extends into the passage 3 or vent 6.
[0038] In some embodiments, at least a portion of the packaging 4 is made from a recyclable material. For example, at least a portion of packaging 4, or the whole packaging 4 may be made from paper. Additionally, the package 4 may be formed form the same material as the sealing members 5, 7. In embodiments where both the packaging 4 and the sealing members 5, 7 are formed from recyclable material, the packaging 4 and sealing members 5, 7 can be easily recycled together.
[0039] Furthermore, in some embodiments, once the portion of the packaging 4, or the whole of the packaging 4, has been removed or displaced to enable the aerosol delivery device 1 to be used for the first time, the packaging 4 may be positionable to support the housing 2 of the device 1 in an upright orientation of a level surface. This results in enhanced device functionality as the device can be stored in a more accessible manner for the user.
