AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing digital imaging techniques for oral prosthesis fabrication, such as intraoral scanning (IOS) and photogrammetry (PG), struggle to accurately capture the original bite pattern and tissue structure pre-surgically, limiting the precision of full-arch prosthesis installation.

Method used

A method involving the use of bite and abutment fiducials with scannable features, combining pre-surgical IOS and PG scans to correlate digital models, allowing precise determination of abutment positions relative to the patient's teeth and tissue, and maintaining the original bite pattern.

Benefits of technology

Enables precise fabrication of oral prostheses by accurately capturing pre-surgical tooth and tissue data, ensuring proper seating and alignment of the prosthesis with the patient's original bite pattern.

Abstract

The present invention provides a method of generating a digital model for the construction of an oral prosthesis, wherein the method comprises using scannable fiducial markers including a bite fiducial to stack and register pre-surgical IOS data and PG data, and further stacking post-surgical PG data to accurately reflect positions of abutment fiducials and a prosthesis, thereby generating a reliable three-dimensional digital model representing precise spatial relationships of teeth, tissue, abutments, and implants.
