The one or more states include a parked state, a sleep state, a surveillance state, a warnings state, a theft alert state, and a successful authentication state. The surveillance system (100)transitions from the parked state to the sleep state when the vehicle has been in the parked state for a pre-defined duration of time.It further switches to a surveillance state when the system determines there is an attempt at unauthorized access.
