Abstract
Description
[0001] A CROSS BEARING AND LOCKING BASE WASHER
[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The present invention relates to preventing the cardan shaft bearing cap from disintegrating by ensuring that the bearing cap and other components move as a whole when the bearing cap is subjected to a force during transportion of the cardan shaft cross assembly before assembly.
[0004] PRIOR ART
[0005] In today's cardan shafts, two bearing caps are welded together with wire in order to prevent the components from separating from each other during transport. The welding of the bearing caps with the wire is achieved by spot welding. High temperatures are reached while welding the wire on the bearing caps. High temperature causes local thermal distortion and deterioration, causing decrement in the strength of the bearing caps. It is undesirable to reduce the strength of the bearing cap as it is a critical part in cardan shafts. It is possible to prevent this situation with a mechanically locked configuration.
[0006] In general, industrial designs, the bearing cap and bottom components move together and slip off the cross body during transport. In this case, the bearing cap and other components cannot move as a whole and cannot be prevented from falling apart.

[0015] The main object of the invention is to ensure that the bearing cap and other components move as a whole and prevent them from falling apart in case the bearing cap in the cardan shafts is subjected to a force.
[0016] Another object of the invention is to prevent the bearing cap from being deformed by being exposed to different processes.
[0017] Another object of the invention is to reduce the process step with the locking process. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0018] The present invention relates to a cross bearing and locking base washer so as to fulfil all aims mentioned above and will be obtained from the following detailed description.
[0019] The invention is a locking base washer that allows the base washer to be locked into the insertion hole to prevent the components of the cardan shaft from falling while being carried during assembly.
[0020] The base washer tab is angled in order to allow the locking base washer to flex into the cross body. There is a fitting hole to allow the base washer tab to flex and fit into the cross body. When the base washer tab flexes into the cross body, the outer seal, inner seal, spring, needle rollers, base washer and bearing cap move as a whole. There is a chamfer at the entrance of the fitting hole to allow the entry of the base washer tab. In case the bearing cap is exposed to forces that may cause it to fall, the base washer tabs are mechanically locked into the insertion hole and the components are prevented from disintegrating.
[0021] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the base washer tab is a male locking element to prevent the bearing cap and sub-components from coming out.
[0022] In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the insertion hole is a female locking element to prevent the bearing cap and sub-components from coming out.
[0023] In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the diameter of the grease channel is equal to or smaller than the diameter of the insertion hole in order to ensure the connection of the locking base washer to the cross body.
[0024] In another preferred embodiment of the invention, in order to ensure that the mentioned locking base washer fits into the insertion hole by stretching, the diameter of the insertion port must be equal to the outer diameter of the base washer tab or less than the outer diameter of the base washer tab. The diameter of the insertion port is equal to the outer diameter of the base connecting column or greater than the outer diameter of the base connecting column. In the preferred embodiment, the diameter of the base washer tabs is larger than the diameter of the insertion port in order to connect the mentioned locking base washer to the cross body.
[0025] In the preferred embodiment, mentioned needle roller has a single-row or double-row structure.

[0051] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0052] In this detailed description, the inventive cross assembly (30) is described by means of examples only for clarifying the subject matter such that no limiting effect is created.
[0053] The subject matter of the invention relates to a cross assembly (30), in which the locking base washer (21 ) in the bearing cap (20) assembly of the cardan shaft cross body (10) and the insertion hole (13) in the grease channel (11 ) of the trunnion (12) are locked together, preventing the bearing cap (20) and components from falling out during transport during shipment and assembly.
[0054] The invention is demonstrated by containing the following elements: • Base washer tab (2101 ) with an angled tip, which enables the mentioned locking base washer (21 ) to be connected to the cross body (10),
[0055] • Insertion hole (13), which enables the connection of the mentioned cross body (10) with the locking base washer (21 ),
[0056] • Chamfer (14) that enables mentioned base washer tab (2101 ) to enter the insertion hole (13),
[0057] Above, the functions of the elements constituting the invention are given. The interconnections of the mentioned elements and their working principles are given below.
[0058] Figures 2 and 4 show the cardan shaft. The cardan shaft (40) undertakes the task of transmitting the torque and rotation movement resulting from the transmission of the power produced by the engine through the gearbox, from one shaft to another or to the differential in fixed or variable angular positions.
[0059] As seen in figures 3 and 5, there is a cross assembly and auxiliary components. While the inner seal (24) prevents the exit of grease from the bearings on the cardan shaft, the outer seal (25) prevents the exit of grease and the entry of dust. The needle roller (22) provides the angular movement of the cardan shaft. There is a locking base washer (21 ) connected between the needle roller (22) and the bearing cap (20), which prevents the friction of the needle roller (22) and bearing cap (20). Bearing cap (20) is the structure that forms the outer ring of the needle rollers (22). Axial fixing of the needle rollers (22) is provided by the spring (23). The cross body (10) is one of the main load-bearing bodies to which the bearing cap (20) is attached. The trunnion (12) prevents angular deviations during the rotation of the shaft. For this reason, the trunnions (12) must constantly operate in an oily environment. In the preferred embodiment, needle roller (22) has a single-row or double-row structure.
[0060] Representative images of the locking base washer (21 ) and cross body (10) are given in Figures 1 and 6. When the visual in question is examined, there is the locking base washer (21 ), base washer tab (2101 ), insertion port (1301 ), insertion hole (13), chamfer (14) and grease channel (11 ) that provides lubrication of the bearings. In order to ensure the connection of the locking base washer (21 ) to the cross body (10), the diameter of the grease channel (11 ) is equal to or smaller than the diameter of the insertion hole (13). The base washer tab (2101 ) is the male locking element that enables the locking base washer (21 ) to be connected to the cross body (10) and its tips are angled. The angled tips of the base washer tab (2101 ) allows the base washer (21 ) to flex into the insertion hole (13).
[0061] The insertion hole (13) is the female locking element that enables the connection of the cross body (10) with the locking base washer (21 ). The insertion hole (13) is connected to the base washer tab (2101 ), the tips of which are angled, so that the outer seal (25), inner seal (24), spring (23), locking base washer (21 ), bearing cap (20) and needle rollers (22) remain connected to the cross body (10) and move as a whole. In order to enable the aforementioned locking base washer (21 ) to be connected to the cross body (10), the diameter of the base washer tabs (2101 ) is larger than the diameter of the insertion port (1301 ).
[0062] The chamfer (14) formed at an angle in the insertion hole (13) of the cross body (10) has a structure that follows the circular form of the grease channel (11 ) and provides the entry into the insertion hole (13) of the base washer tab (2101 ). In order to ensure that the mentioned locking base washer (21 ) fits into the insertion hole (13) by stretching, the outer diameter of the insertion port (1301 ) must be equal to the diameter of the base washer tab (2101 ) or smaller than the outer diameter of the base washer tab (2101 ). The diameter of the insertion port (1301 ) is equal to the outer diameter of the base connecting column (15) or greater than the outer diameter of the base connecting column (15).
[0063] The tip of the mentioned base washer tab (2101 ) has an angled structure in order to enable the base washer tab (2101 ) to flex and pass into the insertion hole (13). There is a chamfer (14) formed in an angled structure at the insertion port (1301 ) to ensure the entry of the mentioned base washer tab (2101 ) into the insertion hole (13) and to ensure that the assembly process is feasible. In order to ensure that the base washer tab (2101 ) and the insertion hole (13) are locked together in a practicable structure, the surface where the insertion hole (13) contacts the base washer tab (2101 ) is parallel to each other. The base washer tab (2101 ), which has an angled tip, passes through the chamfer (14) positioned to follow the circular form of the grease channel (11 ) at the insertion port (1301 ) and is locked by stretching into the insertion hole (13).
[0064] The base washer tab (2101 ) flexes into the insertion hole (13) and ensures that the outer seal (25), inner seal (24), spring (23), locking base washer (21 ), bearing cap (20) and needle rollers (22) are locked and connected to the cross body (10) and move as a whole. The assembly of the bearing cap (20) and other components is achieved by connecting the locking base washer (21 ), inner seal (24), spring (23) and outer seal (25) to the bearing cap (50), respectively.
[0065] The outer seal (25) cannot be removed from the bearing cap (20) without using a tool. When the bearing cap (20) is subjected to a force which may cause it to fall, the base washer tabs (2101 ) mechanically lock in the insertion hole (13), protecting and preventing the bearing cap (20), inner seal (24), spring (23) and needle rollers (22), which are connected with the outer seal (25), from falling apart. The force that will cause the mentioned bearing cap (20) to fall may be the force of gravity or the force resulting from grip during transportation.
