Method for setting up data exchange

Abstract

The invention relates to field devices, in particular a sensor unit and a display and operating module, furthermore to a method for setting up data exchange between the display and operating module and the sensor unit. The method comprises the following steps: providing the sensor unit (200); connecting the sensor unit (200) to the display and operating module (100) via a communication interface (300); transmitting basic information about properties of the display and operating module (100) to the sensor unit (200), wherein transmission is triggered by connecting; determining, on the basis of the basic information, a specialised driver which supports the data exchange between the display and operating module (100) and the sensor unit (200); and loading and installing the specialised driver on the display and operating module (100) such that the data exchange is set up by means of the driver.
